PUPDATE #2

Dog sitting Waffles for another foster has been a pleasure!  This sweet, cuddly and fun pup has not yet been adopted, and someone is missing out!  She has been a delight, spending days napping or playing with a toy or chew while I work or playing with our dog.  Keeping watch out of our window is a favorite activity.  She rarely barks but will speak up when our dog sees something interesting outside.  Completely housebroken and can crate at night or sleep in a dog bed, but she prefers to be out free-roaming during the day.  She does well around the house when we are gone—just make sure to put away your socks and newspapers (she likes the 'ripping' sound of the paper).  She is happy on walks (or runs) and does best on a gentle lead because she is so excited to be outside.  Not reactive to other dogs (has not been introduced to cats), but would follow small critters if given the chance.  Who wants to snatch up this wonderful pup?

PUPDATE #1

Waffles starts her day when her foster moms do, typically between 7:30AM and 8:30AM. After a few belly rubs, Waffles eats breakfast, then goes on a 15-20 minute morning walk to go potty and burn some energy. After the walk, Waffles comes home and spends the day chewing on bones, playing with toys, looking out the window, and sleeping on the couch. We are almost always home during the day, so Waffles is free to roam in the apartment, which she enjoys. Waffles still has some puppy energy, so she typically gets a longer 30-40 minute walk in the afternoon. In the evenings, she eats dinner around 5:00PM, plays with foster moms and her toys for a while, then gets an evening walk to go potty. She spends the rest of the night snuggling on the couch and playing with toys, then heads to bed in her kennel between 10:00PM and 11:00PM.

Waffles LOVES people. At home, she wants to be in the same room as her foster moms, always finding a soft spot to lie down to be near us. She loves to cuddle up on the couch or the bed, wherever she can be closest to her humans. On walks, Waffles wants to greet every person we pass. Sometimes it's hard for her to contain her excitement, and she will jump or paw at new people. She is an incredibly submissive dog, and will usually roll onto her back when meeting new people.

Waffles had had no exposure to children.

Waffles is a fit, athletic dog with moderate energy levels. She gets multiple walks a day to help burn energy and move around. Waffles will occasionally go on runs with her foster mom, which wipes her out and helps her sleep for longer periods of time at home. Waffles needs some work on leash training - she gets excited by the sights and smells on the street and will pull toward what she's interested in, especially small animals. We are working with a harness and treats to alleviate the pulling and help with distraction. At night, she will sometimes get the "zoomies," running after a toy or ball for a few minutes before settling down.

Waffles loves other dogs! She is incredibly playful, and loves pups who reciprocate that energy. She is a strong dog and loves to use her paws when playing - we have noticed that play goes best with dogs who are roughly her size. She is submissive and respectful of social cues that other dogs give her.

Waffles does not do well with cats. Like squirrels and rabbits, she gets agitated when she sees them and will try to engage. Waffles would do best in home without any small animals.

Waffles doesn't like to be alone. She will chew on things she shouldn't if left unattended, so she goes into her crate when her foster moms aren't home. Waffles has made immense progress with crate training in the past few weeks, but will still whine and cry for a few minutes when crated. If she is particularly distressed, she will chew on the blankets in her kennel or other soft things within reach. She is slowly getting better with this, learning that her humans will always come back! To limit time in the crate, Waffles would likely do best in a home where someone is around throughout the day to keep her company.

Waffles is a sweet and snuggly gal!
