Updates

February 12 marks Treasurer’s official adoption day!

Treasure gets let out of her kennel in the morning between 7 and 8am, and immediately goes outside for a short walk/potty break. She eats her food when she comes back in, and then lays on the couch while her humans work from home. She will sometimes get up and chew on her bone/chew toys, but otherwise lays around most of the day until it's time for a midafternoon potty break. Treasure goes out again between 5 and 6 pm for a longer walk and dinner when she returns, then is content to hang out on the couch until bedtime/another quick potty break. She's a little hesitant going into her kennel but settles in once inside.

Treasure is very shy with new people in her life. She will warm up to you after a week or so but doesn't enjoy new human contact at first. Outside, she's interested in people she walks past, but only spares them a sniff before moving on.

She’s only ever walked past children outside, but Treasure was scared of a small group of 7-10 year old's playing loudly outside. We don't know how she would be around younger kids, but loud/unexpected noises in general can spook her.

Treasure has relatively low energy levels while inside but loves going for walks. She gets energized when it's time to go outside, but does enjoy stopping frequently to sniff all the interesting things. Treasure rarely pulls on leash and is more likely to be the one encouraging you to slow down. A gentle tug and command is usually enough to get her moving again. She will run with you but could use some work focusing and not stopping frequently to smell things.

She loves playing with other dogs. Treasure has had several one-on-one play dates with other dogs, and loves running around playing chase with them. Treasure’s been to Dog Dog Daycare on the east side of Madison and got along very well with the dogs her size or smaller. She can be a bit intimidated by larger dogs, or dogs with an intimidating bark, but has never responded with aggression towards them.  Treasure has never had exposure to cats.

Treasure is fine when left alone for several hours at a time. She'll lay on the couch and sleep while you're gone, though she has been known to chew on the occasional shoe if given the opportunity.

She had two teeth pulled during a recent dental in Wisconsin. Treasure’s eyes are a bit red so she’s on an oral allergy pill and eye ointment to help.

Treasure is a very sweet girl who needs a quieter home to help her adjust to a new family.
