Toby found his people on November 8, 2020!
Toby usually wakes up early only because his foster mother starts work at 6:30 am. He goes outside for a brief bathroom break, and he settles in on his couch bed next to his foster mother who is working from home. He is content to lay and gaze out the window or go back to sleep. He has his morning breakfast, and he goes out a little later for a walk. He may get up and walk around or he may ask his foster mother to pet him. He is content to lay around, but he also gets happy when his foster mother shows him attention. He has some snacks, gets excited when his foster father comes home, eats dinner, and takes two more short walks before bed. Sometimes he may get to ride in a car which makes him very happy.
He is great with adults and children. Toby is easygoing so once he sniffs you he may ask to be petted. He has been around children. He was a little scared with smaller children aged 6 and 7, but he did let them pet him. He did great with an 11-year-old and was very calm. Because of his small size, he may be better for older children.
Toby is a medium energy dog. He is content to lay around, but he does like he short walks as well. He usually takes three walks a day, but the first one is a short bathroom break, and the other two are about 20 minutes. He is good on a leash and he listens to commands. He does get excited when he sees rabbits and may want to chase them.
He used to live with another dog, so he appears to be fine with them. Toby has met a few dogs in the neighborhood. If they are far away he gets nervous, but if they are close up and he is allowed to he will sniff them. He has not been around cats in foster care, so it is unknown how he would interact with them.
Toby does not like being left alone. He is not destructive, but he gets nervous and will whimper softly and when you return, he may be visibly shaking. He is a companion dog and prefers someone to be there. He also may use the bathroom indoors if he is left alone long enough where he gets nervous. He did live with a companion dog, so it is unknown if he was alone much.
Toby steals the hearts of anyone he meets. He is very mild-mannered and sweet; he is just a very pleasant dog to be around. He loves to cuddle or just sit and relax with his humans. His favorite past times are eating, cuddling, walking and looking for rabbits, and eating and cuddling some more.
