Officially adopted on February 23, 2021!

Izzy (chihuahua) and Tee (pug) are a senior bonded pair looking for their forever home.  These sweet pups ended up in foster care when their owner had to surrender them.  They have a been a joy to foster!

Tee (who we call T-Bone) is an attention hog and is very vocal about getting his pets, often whining when he wants attention (which the pug breed is known for).  He’s also skilled at using his rear end to push Izzy and other dogs out of the way so he can get all the attention from the humans!  Meanwhile, Izzy is more laid back and can usually be found snoozing in a dog bed or on a blanket (though she also loves to get pets too).    Both of these pups can’t get enough snuggles and would prefer to be around their human as much as possible.  During the day, they are content to sleep behind me in their dog beds as I work from home, taking occasional potty breaks outside.  In the evenings, they love to be on my lap or right next to me on the couch.  They are expert cuddlers and love to give kisses!

Despite being a little older, these pups still have some spunk! They both like to play with stuffies and Tee likes to play tug, both with humans and other dogs.  While they’ve been in our home, they’ve been exposed to lots of other dogs, most of them larger and younger than these two, since we do in-home doggy daycare.  They do well with other pups, but will sometimes bark to put other dogs in their places if they are being too hyper (but Izzy and Tee are all bark, no bite).  Izzy and Tee would do fine living with other dogs, but they would probably prefer calmer dogs or to be the only dogs in the house.

Health-wise, Tee doesn’t have any known health issues and has enjoyed taking a few longer walks (~2 miles) with other dogs in the house.  Izzy has floating patellas (kneecaps), a very common issue for her breed and small breeds generally.  This just means she walks a little more slowly and she looks a bit stiff when she walks.  However, she does well getting around, enjoys wandering around our fenced in yard (or did, before it snowed) and can get up and down our flight of stairs several times a day without issue.  That being said, she’s probably not up for very long walks.  Izzy is also totally deaf, not even vacuuming right near her wakes her up from a nap, but she says her hearing loss is a blessing because Tee snores quite loudly when he’s sleeping! Despite being deaf, Izzy manages just fine and often takes cues from Tee.  Both Izzy and Tee are pretty low energy and have minimal exercise requirements, preferring to spend most of the day snoozing, but both enjoy taking short walks outside (Tee is doing better adjusting to the cold weather; Izzy is a typical heat-loving chihuahua and prefers the hot summer sun).

We crate Izzy and Tee at night (with both sleeping in the same crate) and occasionally during the day.  At night, they settle in and sleep through the night.  During the day, they will bark or whine if we are active in the house and they are crated (but this is true of most dogs).  They have never shown any destructive tendencies, so they likely wouldn’t need to be crated if that is what their adopter preferred.  Both are potty trained, but need to be let out every few hours to avoid accidents.  Izzy has had a few tiny “piddles” in the house while in our care, but this may be due to being spayed at an older age.

Izzy and Tee live with their foster parents and our toddler. While they tolerate the toddler very well (she loves giving them hugs and she’s fascinated by Tee’s curly tail), given their age and size, they would probably do best in a home with older kids or no kids.  They have both been friendly to the few strangers they have met while in our care.

Senior dogs have so much love to give, and these two are guaranteed to bring you a smile and make you laugh every day!  Their adoption fee is $300 for the pair.
