PUPDATE 4

Hey Everyone, it's Hank again!

I wanted to tell you all how good I've been getting at being calm in the house!! For the last couple weeks, my foster fam has been practicing a "normal" work schedule with me -- apparently not everyone gets to work from home all the time?! AAAANNNNYYYYYWWAAAYYYYYY what this means for me is, I get some time to play with the other dogs in my foster home in the morning, I hang out in my crate for a few hours, get to go outside again for a quick walk, and then the afternoons I either get to hang out in my foster mom's office or in my crate again. Then, we go for a long walk, sometimes a run, before dinner, I get to play with my foster siblings again for awhile, and then I'm back in my crate for bedtime. And then I do it all over again the next day! And, guess what?! I'm actually okay with this arrangement! I'm still sssuuupppeeeerrrrrrrr excited for the days I get to go to daycare, but this kind of schedule seems to be working well for me, and the times I get to play are that much more fun for me! I've even learned how beneficial naps can be -- as long as I get to snuggle with my little foster sister.

PUPDATE 3

Hey Everyone, Hank here! I took over my foster mom's computer for a minute so I could better explain my energy levels for you all -- she can be a little... dramatic sometimes, if you know what I mean. :)

I've been in Wisconsin just about a month now, and I think snow is the best stuff ever! I grew up in Texas, and we didn't have any there. Everytime we go outside, I just can't resist sticking my head in the nearest snowbank or grabbing a huge mouthful. Apparently it drives my foster mom nuts. But she laughs at me and tells me I'm adorable. I mean, have you seen me?? Of course I'm adorable!

I love going for walks or running with my foster fam. They put this shiny, fancy collar on me, called a prong collar, and it reminds me that I actually need to walk with them instead of walking them. Hey, walks are exciting, and I'm still learning! But they keep reminding me I'm a really fast learner.

Right now I live with a 7 year old Doberman mix 50 lbs and a 1 year old Terrier mix 40 lbs, and they make the BEST playmates. My older foster sister can be kind of crabby sometimes, but everytime she asks me to play, of course I play with her! I love to play! When she's had enough, I move on to my little foster sister. She plays all my favorite games: tug, chase, and best of all, she'll wrestle with me. I've been learning that I can't play aaaallllllllllllllllll the time though, and my little foster sister loves to snuggle, so after we play a while, we always curl up together for a nap.

A few days a week, I get to go to Waggin' Tails Doggy Daycare. The people that work there are my FAVORITES! Every day before I leave I always have to make sure to give them goodbye kisses. Did I mention I love giving kisses?? They're the best! When I come home from daycare, I eat dinner, play a little bit with my foster sisters, but then I'm ready to curl up with the humans or stretch out on a comfy dog bed for the rest of the evening.

Days I don't go to daycare are the days I go for longer walks with the humans, get extra time to play in the yard, play with my foster sisters, and brush up on my "obedience training." I'm not really sure what that means, but it comes with lots of snacks and pets, and I even sneak in a few kisses.

I know my foster mom made me sound like you need to be an ultramarathon runner or something to keep up with me. That's just not the case! Yes, I'm really excited about life, but the longer I've been here and figured out the routines of this house, I've learned outside time and daycare are the times for running and acting a little crazy. When we're inside, it's the time to play with squeaky toys, chew on bones, and nap!

I've gotta go for now though, my foster sister is waking up and I have to show her the new toy I found. But I'd love to meet you; as long as you like walks and puppy kisses as much as I do!

Woofs and Kisses,

Hank

PUPDATE 2

Hank has been adjusting really well to life in his foster home! We've gotten into a pretty solid routine with him, and his daily life includes a mix of daycare, small dog playgroups, long walks, short training sessions, and earning his meals through puzzle toys. Hank received what we would guess is his first Christmas gift ever; he was very confused why there was a toy and his kibble in a gift bag, but when he figured it out, he was so proud! Hank is a very smart boy, he's just looking for someone who's as fun-loving, playful, and quick-witted as he is!

PUPDATE 1

Hank the Tank has one wish for the holidays: His furever home! He's strong, energetic, and full of love and kisses but looking for someone who can keep up with him -- both mentally and physically. In his foster home, he sleeps in his crate until his family is ready to get up -- whether that's 6 a.m. or 10 a.m. -- he's flexible! He regularly attends Waggin' Tails doggy daycare and comes home in the evenings ready to relax -- usually at his foster mom's feet. On days he doesn't attend daycare, he prefers almost constant playtime with his two furry foster siblings, but his favorite activity is playing in the snow or entertaining himself with a tug rope in the yard. Hank earns all his meals through training or figuring out food puzzles.

Hank hasn't met an adult he hasn't immediately fallen in love with and greeted with typical pittie wiggles. Because he's a 6-pound lap dog trapped in a 60-pound mass of muscle, he doesn't understand his own size or strength and isn't great around young kids -- he just wants to love on and play with them and doesn't realize children are different than adults. Hank would do best with older kids maybe over 15 years old.

He is constantly on-the-go. Hank loves playing with his foster siblings, working on food puzzles, brushing up on his obedience training, and entertaining himself with de-stuffing toys or chewing on bones. Hank would really benefit from a yard with a tall fence [when he gets REALLY excited about the snow, he has demonstrated he can jump a four-foot fence] or space to run and play. He currently attends doggy daycare and this has been another great outlet for his energy. There seems to be no amount of physical energy that can tire him out, so mental games and training are key to his success. Additionally, since he is SO EXCITED! about life, this transfers over into his walks. He walks on a prong collar with a nearly perfect heel.

Hank lives in a home with other dogs and loves playing with them and plays very well with them. His first few days of daycare, he's demonstrated large groups of dogs overwhelm him, so small playgroups are the best fit for him. He's never shown any aggression towards dogs while with his foster family - he just always wants to play!

Hank should not live in a home with cats.

When left alone, Hank hangs out in his crate and does just fine. He is always active and always on the move, so he hasn't yet earned free-roaming privileges in his foster home when home alone.

A dental is recommended in the next 1-2 years due to tartar accumulation. In the mean time, it’s recommended to feed him dental treats to help reduce further tartar accumulation.

Hank is a big love looking for an active adopter. He makes the most adorable coos and hums in his sleep. He's also penned his own version of the 12 Days of Woofmas to better explain what he's looking for in his furever family:

On the 12th day of Woofmas, my adopters gave to me:
12 bones to chew on
11 toys to pounce on
10 games of fetch
9 training classes
8 bags of treats
7 days of daycare
6-foot-high fences
5 doggy friends
4 games of tug
3 walks a day
2 bowls of food
and a nice comfy bed to curl up on!
