Congrats to Storey on her adoption with her new furever Dad on December 4, 2020!
PUPDATE 2
Storey girl is really getting a hang of the daily routine. She has really started to improve on her leash walking skills. Although she still pulls some, we can tell she’s getting more comfortable in the neighborhood.
We’ve really started working short car trips to practice getting in and out of the car. She is getting more confident to jump into the car on her own. Storey went on a little trip to Hilldale Mall to walk around for a photoshoot. She would benefit from small trips to busier areas.
Storey is fed each day in the kitchen near her foster brother. She eats from a puzzle bowl and shows no signs of resource. They respect each other’s bowls and don’t steal food. Storey may be our first ever foster dog to not like peanut butter Kong treat toys. She prefers a hard treat in her Kong. All around, she likes treats made of chicken, beef or fish!
PUPDATE 1
Storey is a true gem! She is an affectionate, playful and likes to snuggle.
Storey is a southern gal who was picked up as a stray in Oklahoma. Her and her momma were found in mid-August. The kind people of Pets Going Places in Texas helped get her all cleaned up, vetted and taught her basic house skills.
She sleeps in her kennel at night. She is an early riser and loves a good 20-minute walk. Around 7am she eats breakfast and then it’s time for a few hours of play and naps. Her foster parents work from home but she is occasionally kenneled for a few hours if they leave. She will whine and bark some at the beginning but after a week of kennel training, she’s greatly improved. She goes outside about every 2 hours for a quick potty. On lunch she goes for a longer 30-minute walk to get some energy out. The afternoons are spent sunbathing on the sofa and catching up on sleep. She eats dinner at 5pm and typically goes to bed around 10pm.
Storey is very affectionate with her foster mom and dad. She asks for pets and cuddles quite often. She is a bit shy meeting new people, but a few minutes helps her warmup. She met a few new adults at a pack walk. She really enjoyed kissing the puppies and eventually asked for pets from the humans. Her previous foster home had 9 and 10-year-old kids. She even slept with one of the kids at night.
She is a high energy dog and will require an active family. Storey’s foster home is in a quiet suburban area. She is scared of loud traffic so downtown living is not for her. She will make a great running partner once she’s a little older and ready to do mileage. She will require longer walks, playtime with dog friends or maybe even some doggy daycare.
Storey lives with a 4-year-old male beagle. He is no athlete and only plays a few times a day. She is learning his cues and is fairly good at playing with toys by herself. They do enjoy playing chase and the two beagles show their bark when overly excited. Storey can eat treats next to her foster brother without a problem. She has not met a cat.
Storey is considered a beagle and coonhound mix. She loves to chase squirrels or rabbits if she sees them on walks. Her leash skills will need continued work as coonhounds have incredible noses. They can smell scents from days earlier. She is an athletic girl who really enjoys long walks.
She is one smart girl! She has mastered most of the puzzle toys in her foster home. One of her favorite toys is a Bob-A-Lot toy filled with regular kibble and it wobbles around to slowly dispense food. She also has a few different styles of Kong treat toys and a Foobler puzzle ball. An adopter should plan on mentally and physically challenging her each day.
Storey would thrive in an active home with time for cuddles and long walks.
