Updates
PUPDATE 2
Snookie has settled in nicely to our routine. We've found she's a pretty mellow and easy going girl, though she still likes her walks and occasional jogs. We've also realized she's exceptionally smart and very trainable. She's already learned some basic commands, although is still learning how to walk on a leash (but getting better). She's met a lot of new people and dogs and seems to consider everyone her friend.
Overall, she's a great dog. If you're looking for a laid back dog, that's smart, friendly, is up for exercise but is fine napping on the couch, she may be your girl.
PUPDATE 1
Snookie is up early for breakfast and a quick potty. We usually try and take her for a walk before work (if it's a work day). On weekdays, she spends her day in a crate, although she's been fine along with our other dog for short time period roaming free (we suspect she'll be fine to free roam all the time eventually). When we get home she gets her dinner, potty, then some cuddle/play time, and if we have time we'll take both dogs on another walk, or sometimes she'll join us on a run. On days when we're home she just likes to lay around and hang out with the family. She's settled into our routine really quickly.
She loves to meet people. She's met my 9 yr old niece who loves to get right in a dog’s face. Snookie loved her. Snookie wants to be friends with every dog she meets. She's become fast friends with larger dogs in our extended family, they love to play together. We also have one older (and smaller) dog in our home. Snookie tried to play with him but soon realized he's not interested, now she generally leaves him alone.
Snookie would love a place where she could run. A large fenced backyard where she could play fetch would be great, but she's good with walks/runs too. We haven't been to the dog park, but I suspect she would love that. Snookie is pretty chill around the house, but loves regular exercise. Cookie spends longer periods alone in her crate and she's fine. We've left her alone for shorter time spans (1-2 hrs) and she's been fine.
Snookie was positive for Anaplasma on 4DX test. A positive result for Anaplasma on 4DX test just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Future 4DX tests may be positive for Anaplasma due to persistence of antibodies despite treatment, this does not indicate the need for further treatment for this condition unless Snookie is showing signs consistent with this disease (fever, lethargy, inappetence, joint pain, consistent bloodwork abnormalities, enlarged lymph nodes, etc).
Overall, Cookie has been the best dog that we've fostered since we've been doing this. She's happy, friendly and settled in quickly with our family.
