Hi! I’m Shyla. My name is right when I’m first meeting you and your family. I am very sweet and friendly, but I am a little shy! Once I am comfortable with you, I will be your best snuggle buddy. My favorite activities are going for walks, playing fetch, and cuddling (emphasis on the cuddling). I would love nothing more than to be by you all day, although I am fine in my crate when you leave. In fact, the crate is my safe spot and I would love if you could keep one set up for me at all times. I like to eat my treats in there and go to my crate when I am feeling scared or uncertain. I enjoy sleeping in my crate, although I love sleeping next to you in bed even more!
On a typical day I wake up and go potty at 7a. I then go to the bathroom again around 5p and go out another time before bed, normally around 10p. I will let you know if I need to go to the bathroom at any point in between and I will wait by the door. I love snuggling on blankets and get cold often, which means I am very tolerant to wearing clothes! I will also snuggle with my dog pals and sometimes cats, if they are feeling generous.
I love playing and will become laser focused on my toy if you bring them out. Please give me at least 15 minutes of play or chew time if you’re going to bring out the toy so I don’t whine or feel sad that I got such little time. I don’t live with children but I have interacted with several children (aged 1, 7, and 10 years old). I am good about letting them pet and hug me. If they have cheese in their hand though, no promises that it doesn’t end up in my mouth!
I am good with dogs and cats, but I do require slower introductions in the house. If dogs run at me too fast I can get scared. Cats I have no reaction to, I just want to snuggle them. I am totally fine meeting dogs outside and on leash! I am really good at listening and reacting to you. If you say no, I stop what I’m doing. I am so gentle when I take treats and am learning some tricks at my foster home.
