Hi there - my name is Schweiger, but my foster parents call me Swiggies and I’m super enthusiastic about life!! I love humans a lot. I pretty much always want to be with the humans. If the humans are walking around, I’m walking around! If the humans are sitting on the couch, I’m sitting on the couch! I also love to give kisses and to snuggle. My foster parents tell me I can be a bit “much” at times, but what can I say -- I just lovvveeee people!
I also get along really well with other dogs and would love to have a playful dog in my forever home to run with and play with. Sometimes I get the zoomies and run from one side of the house to the other and back again. I’d love to have doggy running buddies to run with! I also like when the little human in the house runs with me. It’s a good way to get out our energy on the cold and rainy nights. I’m a medium to high energy dog that would do best with an active family.
I also love going on walks and sniffing things. My foster parents say I do pretty well on the leash, other than getting tangled up sometimes. It’s great to get out and see the world!

PUPDATE 1
Schweiger's day starts out around 6 am with getting let out from the kennel and going right outside. After he comes in he eats breakfast and then he will play with the other dogs until we leave for work. When we leave the house he resides in his kennel.
He loves any attention that any human will give him inside our home and outside the home. He'll ask for pets and roll over for tummy rubs.
Schweiger does well in general with our 2 year old as long as she doesn't have food in his reach and we have to correct him when he jumps on her. Otherwise he loves snuggling with her and eating the food tidbits she drops.
Schweiger is a medium to high energy dog even though he is small. He loves to play with other dogs, toys, and go on long walks. His leash manners are very good although sometimes he gets carried away with sniffing all the things and needs encouragement to keep walking at a good pace.
He lives with 3 other smaller dogs in our home and does great with all of them. Outside the home he has met several dogs on leash with no barking and good manners.
He has not had exposure to cats while in our care, however, dachshunds are known to have a prey drive so he might want to chase cats.
We crate Schweiger when we leave the house and he barks a little when we leave and quiets down quickly.
Schweiger is a super sweetie who wants to soak up all the love he can from humans. He'll be your best friend and snuggle up to you when you're sitting on the couch.
