Updates

Maggie is a loveable, high-energy young dog looking for her forever home! Maggie sleeps in her crate at night and gets let out with the other dogs in the morning. Then she gets breakfast in her crate, and goes back outside for about an hour of playtime with our other high-energy dog. She spends the workday sleeping in her crate, gets a walk at the end of the day before dinner, and another hour or 2 of playtime.

Maggie is good with people - she has never met a human she didn't love. She is very eager to please her humans. She can get a little overexcited meeting new people so she does jump up on them to give lots of kisses. Outside of the home is about the same. On walks, she perks up and wags her tail when she sees people all the way down the street. She has not had exposure to kids while in my care, but I would not leave her unsupervised around younger kids. She is fast and clumsy and likes to jump on people.

Maggie walks REALLY well on a leash. She stops for smells frequently, but she does not pull on her leash at all. She can be a little reactive when she sees another dog on a walk. She is a high-energy dog, so she needs a decent amount of exercise. She would make a great running buddy! Before she met the other dogs, she was quite calm and relaxed but being around other dogs changes her demeanor a bit. Her energy level might differ depending on if you have another dog at home or not. I have seen her play with other dogs for hours and hours without getting tired so she certainly has a lot of energy to give!

Maggie loves other dogs! Generally, she is quite submissive, so she rolls over on her back when meeting new dogs. She loves to play with them but can be a little much for low-energy dogs. She has been doing well with picking up on social clues that another dog is not interested in playing with her. We do not let her meet other dogs while on the leash, so she hasn't met another dog outside of the home, but I imagine she would behave similarly. She is a bit reactive to other dogs while on leash. I have not seen her interact with cats, but given her energy level and desire to play, they likely won’t be a great fit.

As with many young dogs adjusting to a new foster home, we are still working on her potty training routine. She is mostly potty trained, but I think she is having a hard time adjusting to the snow. She prefers to pee on grass and gets easily distracted outside if the other dogs are out with her. But she is making progress over time.

Maggie does really well in her crate, especially if she has been tuckered out a bit with playtime or a long walk. She may cry or whine a bit at first or if we crate her while we are home, but generally, she is really good. I wouldn't put too much in her crate with her, she has been known to chew up things.

Maggie is a really sweet girl who is very eager to please her people, she just needs someone to put some time into basic obedience training and a solid place command and she will be an amazing dog! She loves all sorts of toys, but may destroy some of them. She is even good at sharing them with other dogs! So far, she has been very trainable, so she picks up on new tricks quickly!
