PUPDATE
Scamp wakes up around 7 or 730 am. He goes outside for a potty break or walk and then has breakfast. Scamp spends the day with us while we work from home. He is very good at playing on his own and entertaining himself. He is very curious and puppy-like and explores anything he finds. Scamp is working on crate training and shows some resistance to being confined but improves each day. Scamp rides beautifully in the car but does sometimes get carsick if too close to eating time. When going for a walk, Scamp sits or lies down patiently to wait for his harness and leash, and at the end of the walk sits for his paws to be wiped. He seemed to understand this innately, which we found amazing! Scamp loves to play in the snow, choosing to burrow his nose and dig tracks along the walk! Scamp eats dinner around 6 pm and he is pretty calm during the evening, taking a few play breaks before bed around 1030 pm. Currently Scamp sleeps between his crate and the couch. Because he is still a pup, we let Scamp out every few hours but he is very good about going to the door when he needs to go.
Scamp is very good with people. Upon meeting a new person outside, he sits and waits for pets, doesn't jump much and is gentle. He is sometimes a bit hesitant but warms up quickly to new folks. Inside the home, he has met a family member and he was very calm and unbothered. He also meets workers who do things around the house and has been very friendly & respectfully curious.
Scamp has met several children on walks or in the front yard. He is a little shy at first but then will play nicely with them. If he gets over excited he might need to be redirected to not jump up but he very easily modifies his behavior with prompting.
Scamp is a typical large breed dog and ideally will require a long walk each day. He walks very well on the leash already -- some pulling but that is typical for a puppy still learning the ways of the world. On day 2 of meeting him, we took Scamp for a long walk to the coffee shop. He waited patiently outside the shop while we enjoyed our coffee with him and before continuing our walk home. He really impressed us with his great manners! We think Scamp will be an amazing walker with some more practice. Because he is on limited activity for a few weeks after his neutering, Scamp has adapted well to do his minimal exercise in a small fenced patio area. Long-term he would thrive with a family who includes him in an active lifestyle and takes him on new adventures. Scamp absolutely loves to be outside and will often just lie down on our front or back porch for a snooze/rest before coming inside. On some warmer days we sat outside with him contentedly for hours.
Scamp was very excited to meet the resident dog. Resident dog is very tolerant but not too interested in play and Scamp reads his cues about this after a quick excitable greeting. He is curious about all dogs we see outside. He is a bit shy at first when meeting a dog outside but then warms up. He is not aggressive if another dog gets upset.
Scamp has not met any cats yet.
Because of his age, Scamp has not been left alone.
Scamp is such a sweetheart and has already learned so much during the week he has been with us. He will be a breeze to train & incorporate into your daily life. He would be a great addition to any family, especially one who would encourage his desire to learn & explore! He is a cuddly, lovable, mild-mannered guy!
