This brindle bundle of love is Satoko! Satoko’s favorite activity is whatever you’re doing, so if you’re looking for a canine shadow, he might be the one! His other interests include cuddling, lying in the grass in the sun, playing with his squeaky stuffed animals, keeping an eye on the chipmunks in the backyard through the window, and napping.

Satoko’s daily schedule goes something like this: He gets up when you get up. He’s a little too interested in your breakfast (people food is exciting), but if you sit at a table, he’ll give up and just hang out by your feet. He spends the morning trying to cuddle and play. Sometimes he has a little puppy mouthiness when he’s excited, but he’s easily redirected with a stuffed animal. Around midday he goes for a walk, which includes a lot of stopping and sniffing and reading the doggy newspaper. Often he’s feeling too lazy for a walk at this time, though, so he lies outside in the sun or just naps indoors. In the afternoon he likes to nap on the sofa. In the evening hours he gets a second wind and likes to run back and forth with his toys, pouncing and chewing on them. He often gets a case of the zoomies in the evening. He goes for another walk, then for the rest of the evening he alternates between playing and hanging out on the sofa. He is the sweetest dog, and a joy to spend time with.

He sleeps in is crate at night and is calm and quiet. He stays in his crate when he’s home alone, too, and he has done well. He has mastered house training and asks to go outside when he has to go potty. Such a good boy! He does get distracted by the opportunity to lie in the grass in the sun (who can blame him?), which is why a fenced yard would be amazing for Satoko.

Satoko is a little timid at first with people, but he’s easily won over with some petting or treats. He does stop and stare at people and dogs he sees from a distance while out walking. We’re working on getting him more comfortable with all the neighbors. He’s never barked at another dog and doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs barking at him. He LOVES playing with other dogs!

Satoko could be an only dog but would also be thrilled to go to a home with another dog to be his buddy. He has a pretty high prey drive, so he would likely chase cats, as he has tried to do with the few neighbor cats that have wandered into our yard. It’s possible that with a proper introduction he could learn that they’re not prey, but I would proceed with extreme caution. Satoko has met lots of children of all ages at Fetch events and has been a sweetheart with all of them. He’s still learning not to stand on his back legs to try to hug people, though, so there’s a chance smaller children might get knocked over accidentally.

Everyone who meets Satoko says what a sweet and loving dog he is! He is a world champion cuddler who just wants to be with you as much as he can. He is a medium-energy dog overall and would fit in well with any family willing to spend the time to give him all the love he deserves. He will pay it back tenfold!
