Introducing Rufus! He has made his way to Wisconsin from Arkansas in search of his forever family. Rufus is a beautiful Basset Hound weighing approximately 28 pounds, is 1-2 years old and is definitely a people pleaser. He will roll over on his back for belly rubs and he soaks up all the pets he can get. Rufus enjoys walks and is great on a leash strolling around the neighborhood. This boy is definitely built for comfort not speed. Rufus is not dog reactive when seeing another dog out and about. He does perk up when he sees a squirrel or rabbit, but does not appear to be aggressive toward small animals.
Rufus enjoys chewing appropriate hard chew toys and he loves ropes for tug-of-war. As a Basset, he has the signature deep, low bark. He tends to be vocal when he gets excited such as breakfast and supper time. Rufus is learning to go in his crate with verbal commands. He is crated during the workday and quietly sleeps in his crate at night although I’m sure he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans. Rufus is not yet neutered but his appointment is scheduled. He has been wearing a belly band to curb any marking issues but has kept his band mostly dry with only a few times being wet and has had no other accidents. He is currently fostered with dogs his size and smaller and has done well with them all.
