Updates

Suzy is a curious dog that likes to explore and sniff. She loves to play with toys, walks amazingly on a leash, and loves snuggles with her humans. She loves sunny naps, and curling up in a pile of blankets.

Suzy would do best in a home as the only dog or with other non-confrontational dogs. She can be bossy and likes to let other dogs know that. She currently lives with 2 other dogs in her foster home and does great with them but occasionally needs a reminder that she doesn't need to boss them around. Suzy has some resource-guarding tendencies and should be fed food and bones separately from other dogs. She hasn't shown any resource guarding towards humans.

Suzy also currently lives with 3 other cats and LOVES her kitty siblings. She will chase after kitties that run but has always been gentle when she catches up to them. Once she knows the kitties living with her she no longer chases them. She would prefer dog-savvy cats that don't run and that will snuggle with her.

Suzy sleeps in her crate at night and while we are not at the house. With continued training Suzy has been doing great about being quiet in her crate while we are gone. Suzy does best in her crate when there is some white noise in the background. While the crate is not her favorite place in the world, she should be crated when not supervised as Suzy believes anything mouth-sized should be eaten including paper, plastic, cardboard, dog toys, etc.

While out and about in the house Suzy is overall quiet, but will occasionally bark to let us know that someone is walking by the front of the house.

Suzy can be mischievous and likes to investigate all possible sources of food and toys. Suzy's new family would need to Suzy-proof their home which would mean no soft dog toys unless supervisored, and nothing mouth-sized or smaller within reach.

Suzy is fully potty trained and goes to the bathroom right away when we go outside.

Suzy has not been around kids in her foster home, but has met some kids while out and about on walks. Suzy would do best with older kids that will respect her boundaries. While Suzy is incredibly loving and snuggly she does need her space sometimes and would not do well with little kids grabbing her tail or paws.

Suzy happily eats her food quickly and is very food/treat motivated. Suzy loves doing tricks for treats and her ears work best when you have a treat in hand.

Suzy is a special fetch pup looking for the right home. Suzy was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma right before getting her freedom ride to Wisconsin in August.

Suzy had a UW oncology vet visit at the end of August 2023 and they were able to confirm that her Hemangiosarcoma was only in her skin and was not present in her internal organs. This presents as lots of small spots and bumps on her skin especially on her belly and legs.

Since her oncology visit in August, her fosters have noticed a few more bumps appearing but none of the bumps have gotten bigger than 2-3cm which is a great sign that they are not growing fast! X-rays in January were able to confirm again that nothing is visible internally and its just her spots on her skin.
