Roxie found her home September 6, 2021!

PUPDATE 2

Roxie has settled in wonderfully over the last few weeks! We've had enough time together to develop a routine which Roxie has taken to very well! Daycare is busy these days, so she hasn't gone as much, but she adjusted well to a crate schedule as an alternative.

In the morning, Roxie has breakfast then goes for a walk or jog alongside the bike. When it's time for work, she walks herself into the crate. At lunch, she has a 20-30 minute walk, some playtime, and then is crated until the afternoon.

After work, Roxie takes a long walk alongside the bike. She has Herculean stamina, and can go the distance! Literally, 3-5 miles. She can even sprint for almost a mile after a longer rest. Roxie tags along on runs with her foster, and is an outstanding running buddy! She does really well staying to one side and keeping pace without getting distracted. If running is not your thing, Roxie likes extra long walks too. She is high energy and will appreciate someone willing to help work out her energy so she can cuddle later!

Roxie demonstrated her social skills recently by staying calm and friendly at a baseball game where there were lots of people and other dogs. During the game, she sat near a family with young children and got along great with them!

Roxie learned "Shake" this week and is working on "Twirl"!

PUPDATE 1

In the morning, Roxie waits patiently for me to let her out. I may walk past her crate several times before it's time to be let out, but she will only whine a little to remind me she's there and ready to start the day! Then Roxie is let outside and we walk to doggie daycare. She stays at daycare while I work, then we walk home and she gets dinner. Roxie has a good amount of energy, so we try to take one long walk in the evening, have some playtime, and another short walk before bedtime.

On days she doesn't go to daycare, we have a long morning walk, a noontime walk, and the normal long evening walk. Roxie also likes to jog, especially if she's had to be in her crate longer than usual and would make a good running buddy.

Roxie is awesome with people and dogs she meets on walks. She will curiously sniff towards them, but not get in their space or pull. She goes to doggie daycare multiple times a week and does really well there too.

Roxie has not been exposed to children at her current foster. She can be mouthy so no young kids.

She is great on a leash when she has her prong collar on. Roxie follows verbal cues well and will learn to match your pace. She is medium to high energy, so she needs multiple walks throughout the day.

Roxie enjoys spending quality time with other dogs at daycare. Otherwise she occasionally meets other dogs on walks, where she is interested to meet them, but does not tug towards them.

Roxie has not been exposed to cats while with her current foster.

Roxie is curious and playful, so we do not leave her alone to free roam. When she is alone, she is in her crate where she is relaxed and quiet.

The vet noted Roxie has ectropion of the lower eyelids. Surgical correction is an option but given that the eye is not inflamed surgical correction is not necessary at this time.

Roxie knows "sit" and has made great progress in just a week with "stay". She is smart and wants to please her people. She likes pets and loves belly rubs!
