Code found his family September 5, 2021!

Code (we pronounce coo-dee) loves to wake-up in your room (preferably in your bed, but he is content sleeping in his own bed or on the cool floor) with you. He will allow you to sleep in before wanting to go outside or eat. Code then enjoys 2 cups of chow, followed by a jaunt outside. He then spends much of his day lying next to his foster mom while she works--although he prefers the couch when allowed. After taking a few breaks to play with his resident sister and brother, he enjoys dinner, a walk, then waits for you to go to bed so he can try and sneak his 76 pound body into your bed.

Code is great with people! He does not jump up, and greets strangers as if they are old friends.  Code does well with children, and our kids (5 yrs and 9 yrs) love to play with him! He is a great cuddlier and loves to snuggle up with the kids. Code is tall, and sometimes he forgets how large his body is. Because of this, he might accidently 'bump' or knock over small/unsteady walkers. He will also sometimes 'pat' his humans to invite them to pet him, putting his paw on an arm or leg to let you know he is ready for some attention!

He is medium energy. Code would benefit from a fenced-in yard, as he does like to let loose and run around in an open space with other dogs or humans. He also enjoys walks. If given a long leash he will wander about, but is not a puller. With continued practice, he could make a good running partner.

Code loves playing with other dogs! However, Code has some resource guarding issues and he cannot eat or receive treats with other dogs around. (He eats in a separate room.) He will sometimes show signs of protecting a toy or person, but with redirecting he is usually quick to 'share' those items with the other dogs. The majority of the time he promotes play and toy sharing with the other dogs. He does well meeting the neighbor dogs on walks or playing in their yard, but has not had visiting dogs into his foster home.  Code ignores the cats at his foster home.

When left alone, Code has found some non-toy items to chew on. In the past he has been left to roam, but his current foster crates him when no one is home.

While Code has spent much of his foster life with other dogs, he does really well with just people! He would make a great solo pet for a family, couple, or individual, too.
