Because he's a puppy, Chuck’s day is a cycle of sleep, eat, potty, and play. He sleeps in a crate with his foster dog brother and sister overnight and sleeps through the night. Wake up time is generally around 6:30am. He has a meal in the morning, midday, and at supper time. Plenty of play and naps during the daytime and then usually ready for bedtime around 9pm.
Chuck can be very timid around new people at first. He takes a bit of time to get comfortable with approaching new people. He will let new people approach him and is ok with them holding him but will still be nervous. Once he warms up to the people though, he is a bundle of energy and affection!
Chuck does very well with children ages 6+. Once he gets to know them, he finds them to be fun playmates to play chase with. Chuck does well with being handled and held by children.
He has a lot of energy and is very fast. Chuck likes to run his zoomies outdoors especially. He generally takes a little longer to work out his energy, so he needs plenty of opportunity to be active. Chuck would also do well with agility training! Because he's a puppy, he's not had any leash training yet, but responds well to praise and treats for training.
Chuck is shy and timid when meeting new dogs. Once he's comfortable, he's playful and rambunctious with them. In addition to his brother and sister, he has been living with an 8 year old German Shepherd and has adapted well, but can still get timid when approached by larger dogs. When he's outside and sees another dog, his reaction is to come to his human for protection and assurance. If being introduced to other dogs in a home, he will need plenty of assurance and to feel protected by his human at first. Chuck has not been socialized with cats.
Because he's a puppy, Chuck is kenneled when there is no one around. He takes well to his kennel and will play with his toys or sleep depending on how he feels. Check also sleeps in a crate with his siblings overnight and likes how cozy and safe his covered kennel feels!
Chuck is a sweetheart who loves to run and play, but he is also an excellent cuddler. When he's ready to relax after working out his energy, he loves to lay with his head on his human’s lap or being held. He would make a great running, hiking, or biking buddy and has so much love and affection to give his family!
