Updates

Remi spends most of her day napping at my feet when I am working from home. Her energy level goes up while playing with our dog, but other than that she is a very chill girl. If you are on the couch or in bed, she is right there snuggling. She is my little shadow, and follows me around from room to room. She loves love and will seek it out. Her favorite things are cuddling in bed, belly pets, and playing rope tug o war with our dog. Remi is treat motivated and knows sit.

Remi is cautious but does well with slow intros to new people. Once she trusts you, she wants to cuddle. Remi barks and growls when a new person enters the home, but has been progressing as she settles in to her foster home. Outside the home, she is not very interested in meeting new people. She hides behind me on the leash when a new person approaches, but she does not act aggressive, just shy. We have not seen her interact with children, but due to how easily she can be startled by quick movements and new people she is unsure of, we recommend she go to a home without small children as they tend to display these characteristics that may make her nervous.

Remi is low/medium energy. Remi's leash manners on a walk are fantastic. She strolls next to me with a slack leash. She has been doing well with two short walks a day. She is a little higher energy when in the mood to play with our dog, but it usually fairly short lived.

After a slow intro with our dog, they are best friends. She loves him. Outside the home, her leash reactivity includes barking and lunging at other dogs. We have not tested a meeting off-leash other than with our dog. She barks at other dogs on walks, but most of her leash reactivity/lunging is when a dog walks by right outside of our house. We have been able to redirect her attention away from other dogs with treats when this happens. It is a work in progress.

Remi mostly ignores our cat. She will sometimes try to smell him, but when he makes it clear he wants her to go away, she respects it.

We always leave Remi in her crate when we leave the house. She barks at first, but I don't believe it continues the whole time, as she is usually quiet when we return. She chews her bedding when left in the crate. It helps to give her a kong, or something to distract her as well.

Remi was positive for Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, in May but is not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for Anaplasmosis just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is currently being given a round of antibiotics.

Remi needs slow intros to new people and to other dogs, but when she trusts you and is comfortable, she is the sweetest, snuggliest girl ever. She loves belly rubs, naps, and couch time. Remi needs an owner who will be patient with her, and who is willing to control the environment around her.
