Officially adopted on April 28!

During the week Pixy Stick gets up with me around 6am. We go outside right away to potty, then come back in for breakfast. Once she is done, I give her some time for scratches and belly rubs. The rest of the morning she will either following me around or lay on the couch while I get ready for work. I let her roam around in the living room while I am at work. She usually sleeps all afternoon on the couch with some breaks to chew on a raw hide stick. When I get home, we go out again to potty and a short walk around the block. The afternoon is spent with a little bit of play time and then sitting on my lap while I watch TV. Pixy Stick eats dinner around 6pm. The rest of the night is spent following me around while I make dinner and do chores, or more sleeping on the couch. We will go out a few more times before bed, and then Pixy Stick sleeps all night in her kennel.

Pixy Stick loves to meet new people when she sees them. She loves getting pet by them and giving kisses back. And once Pixy Stick is really comfortable, she would love nothing more than to fall asleep in their lab. She does great with both men and women.

She will approach children to have them pet and hold her. However, if she is around lots of kids that are running around and being loud, she will try to find something to hide under.

Pixy Stick is very low energy. She does have her moments where she wants to play, but most toys are too big for her. I have bought her some small, soft cat toys that she does like to fetch and chew on, but she will tire out after 10 minutes. If she is constantly underfoot you can give her a small raw hide stick and she will chew on it for a long while. She does like to go outside, and now that it is nice out I try to take her on a few walks a week. She won’t be a marathon runner, but walking will be good for her. She walks very well on a leash but is not really a pack leader. She tends to stay really close to her owner’s feet when she walks.

Pixy Stick does well with other dogs if they are not too hyper or in her face. If they try to play too hard, she will try to hide away from them. But she does like to cuddle with her foster sister for naps and follows her around the house.  Pixy Stick does not live with cats.

Pixy Stick was treated for anaplasma with a round of antibiotics. She does not show any clinical signs. Pixy Stick has some tartar accumulation and should have a dental in the next 6-12 months.

Pixy Stick is a special girl! She is blind in her left eye, and it is smaller than the other eye. This is a condition she has had since she was a young pup. She is able to walk around and navigate fine and it does not bother her. However the vet suggested monitoring it at visits to make sure it does not become infected or become painful.

Once you get her settled with a chew stick or on the couch, she does very well at home when I am at work. The first few days I had her Pixy Stick would take some time to understand I was leaving but now she does fine.

Pixy Stick is a dog that would prefer a calm/quite house to live in. She spends a lot of time napping or wanting to cuddle with her owner. I think she would like another small dog to cuddle with at home, but a big hyper dog would most likely scare her.
