Updates

Pixie likes to sleep in a little bit, sometimes needing a little coaxing to get out of bed around 6:30 am, then heads out for potty. She likes tummy rubs and following you around as you go about your daily activities.  But she also enjoys naps and especially being outside and going for walks.

She is a typical chihuahua and slow to warm up to new people. She prefers to greet both children and adults alike with barks. As long as they have treats for her, she will warm up -- however, she will need time and it will need to be on her terms. She will need continued work on greeting new people. Once she gets to know you, she is loving.

Pixie goes out on two or three walks a day.  She is happy playing with stuffed toys and will chase and new a ball.  A favorite pastime is cuddling on her human’s laps and snuggling under covers at bedtime. If you ask for a hug, she will happily oblige. She enjoys giving kisses as well!

She plays well with and lays next to the resident dog. On walks, she ignores other dogs so she can focus on sniffing around. When they get close enough to interact, the dogs mostly just smell each other.  Pixie does not have any cats in her foster home.

Pixie does well and free roams when left alone. She plays with toys, naps in her crate or on a dog bed, or plays with the resident dog. She does not get into anything other than her toys. She would do best in a home in a quieter area.

Pixie has some tartar accumulation and would benefit from a dental in the next 1-2 years.  She is currently on a diet and her optimal weight is around 12 pounds.

At times, Pixie gets a little jealous when attention is given to the resident dog and may produce a little growl. When corrected with the command “no growl“, she stops immediately. Then she is rewarded with attention. Pixie also needs to warm up to new people, being initially a little nervous and shy.  If she’s given a little nibble of treat by the visit, she will be more confident and will quickly be your friend. When she gets to know you, Pixie is a very cuddly, loving dog.
