Updates
Peanut typically sleeps in her kennel through the night. She gets up when we get up at about 6am. We let her outside to go potty and feed her. She is a bit energetic right when she gets out of her kennel but then usually settles in and lays on the couch while we get ready for work. She is kenneled while we work from home and does well being in her crate. We let her out at lunch for a little while and then she is back in for the afternoon. After work she is out of her kennel and loves to cuddle on the couch. She likes to be near us during the evening. Sometimes we take her on a short walk in the morning or after work which she enjoys.
Peanut loves to snuggle with the people in our house (13 year old, 15 year old and two adults). She has not met a lot of other people but has done well with meeting the few people that she has.
Peanut has not met anyone under the age of 12 but has done well with the older children she has met.
Peanut's favorite activity is laying on the couch. We have taken her on some short walks (about half a mile) and she does well on the leash.
Peanut does well with our resident yellow lab but it took several days for her to warm up. She is a bit timid when the neighbor dogs are outside at the same time as her.
She has not had exposure to cats while in my care.
As a puppy, Peanut is still getting the hang of potty training. She does not ask to go out but does hold her potty for a long time. She does not like the cold so does not love being outside - she is getting better with this.
When Peanut is left alone we typically put her in her kennel. She does well in the kennel and does not whine much. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for her to settle in when she can still hear us.
Because she occasionally whines/barks, she may be a better fit for living in a house rather than an apartment or home with shared walls.
Peanut was positive for Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, in January but is not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for Anaplasmosis just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is currently being given a round of antibiotics.
Peanut is a very sweet and snuggly puppy. She will be a great companion!
