Updates

Nilla starts her day with eating breakfast outside on the patio. She wakes up around 7am, goes outside, and goes potty. She eats breakfast outside due to a bit of food aggression with our resident dog. Nilla has a slow feed bowl due to eating quickly. Nilla doesn't mind the snow and loves to be outside. She has finally realized our neighbor's dogs are friends. When Nilla first arrived, she was scared of other dogs. It took her a while to warm up to our resident dog. Now they are friends and love to play together. Nilla gets excited when the other dogs are outside and runs to greet them. Nilla loves to play, chew on toys, and nap. She has found napping in front of the patio doors in the sunshine is her favorite place. Nilla eats dinner around 6-7pm. After dinner, she likes to play for a while outside. Nilla goes to the bathroom after dinner and is ready for bed around 9:30pm. Nilla sleeps in a kennel/crate all night.

Nilla loves all people! She hasn't met a person she doesn't like. She has no experience with children younger than 7. Nilla lives with children ages 7, 9, 10, and 17. She loves them and is gentle with them. She doesn't usually jump up on the kids and doesn't lick a lot.

Nilla is the calmest and most chill dog we've ever fostered. I'd say she is a low energy dog. She is perfectly content to stay indoors and chew on toys. She also likes to just lay in the sunshine, indoors or outdoors. She loves to nap. Nilla does best on a leash when we take both her and our resident dog for a walk. She does not like long walks!

As a puppy, she’s still working on her potty training. But if she’s let out every 2-3 hours, she doesn’t have accidents.

Initially she was afraid of all the dogs - neighbor's dogs and our resident dog. She took several days before their gated face to face meets progressed into meeting with no barriers. Now our resident dog and Nilla play all day. They also nap together on the dog bed. Nilla has also gotten used to the neighbor's dogs and likes to run with and smell them. She gets excited when they are outside and often wants to go outside to see them.

Nilla is crated when we are not home. She does well. She usually naps, but will chew on a toy we leave with her.

If you're looking for a chill, calm, and sweet dog, Nilla is your girl! She is just the biggest sweetheart! Her tail is always wagging too, even when she's eating.
