Updates

Meet Mochi! This shy but mischievous girl with giant, brown eyes is ready to find her forever home. She is a little shy at first but is a total love and enjoys exploring once she warms up.

Mochi is a very typical, 4 month old puppy. She loves to be outside, sniffing around or playing chase with her pals. She definitely thinks she is the fastest of the puppies and loves zipping around the yard to show off. She also loves a good mulch chunk and is often caught trying to sneak them inside the house. Good scritches are the top of her must have list for a forever family. She loves her some good scritches and gets this silly grin on her face when the scritches are in just the right spot.

She spends her days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with her foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and has done well sharing her eating space with the other puppies we are fostering, though I hang out pretty close and make sure everyone sticks to their own bowls. She loves her food and will try to sneak some from other pup’s bowls if she finishes first. She plays hard and crashes hard after lots of playtime. After a busy day of playing, she loves to snuggle near the humans or other puppies as the evening winds down.

Mochi does pretty well with potty training if you keep her on a schedule. She goes outside right away after being let out of the crate, naps or bouts of heavy playtime. She does still have accidents though so she will need to be watched closely. We are also working hard on crate training. She doesn’t love the crate yet so we are getting lots of practice. She is used to getting a frozen kong or a chew to chomp on when she goes in so she typically is quiet until she is done with those, will fuss a bit and then pass out. Our routine is being crated for about four hour chunks with a long break at lunch. She may have an accident in the crate when crated for longer periods or if she doesn’t go potty right before going in the crate. Overnight she is crated and has been doing well for 6-7 hours without a break.

Mochi is a little timid at first when meeting new people but as with most shy pups, she starts to show more and more of her personality as she becomes more comfortable with someone. She doesn’t seem to mind if someone new is in our home, she will just find an out of the way spot to hang out for a bit until she gets curious enough to interact. She is even fine if the person approaches her space, she just won’t seek them out until she has some time and space to decide that she is interested. She is very comfortable with her foster family and loves to snuggle next to them on the couch. She loves our “good morning routine” which includes being the first puppy outside, a quick potty and chase with the other pups and edging out the other pups for lots of kisses, cuddles and good scritches as soon as I sit on the floor. She doesn't have kids in her foster home and has really only seen them on walks. Since she is more timid and would need time to warm up to them, she would do best with kids that are a bit older and able to take direction/correction when first meeting her.

She currently has four other pups in her foster home; two adult dogs and two other puppies. She plays mostly with the other puppies in her foster home and loves to play. She can be vocal when playing with the other dogs and loves to bark to try to get them to engage. Otherwise she is fairly quiet in the house. She gets excited for time with the adult pups but is submissive with them and gives space, if needed. Mochi would love a canine friend in her forever home.

Mochi does have two kitties in her foster home. She is very interested in the kitties. She does well when the cats are just hanging out or if she is distracted by something else but will chase/try to play with them if they run. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so she can learn those boundaries.

Mochi gets most of her energy out playing with the other pups in her home. She loves wrestling and playing chase. She is a medium energy gal that likes long naps after play time. She does ok on leash but walks like a typical puppy so will need some practice. She gets distracted easily and likes to people watch but keeps moving fairly well. She does well in the car (crated) and settles in quickly for the ride.

When we leave, Mochi is crated. She is still very much a puppy so the crate keeps her out trouble (chewing, accidents, making other messes). She will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored.

We have loved watching this sweet pup settle in and having front row seats to her silly personality. We just know with a little bit of patience, her forever family will love getting to spend time with this precious girl.
