Moxie found her family August 6, 2021!

Meet Miss Moxie, one of the biggest sweeties there is! She is such a happy dog, who has yet to find something she does not like. After a sound sleep, she is ready for the day as we head outside for a few sniffs and a bathroom break before breakfast. And she loves breakfast! And dinner, and treats! After eating, Moxie will spend her day taking naps and chewing on bones, kongs or playing with some toys. And when we have to head into work, she has been doing really well spending time in her crate.

Moxie also loves spending time outside, meeting new people, car rides and is great with other dogs. She hasn't had much opportunity to meet children yet. Moxie does sometimes jump up during greetings, though. It's a gentle jump, but it's still something we have been working on and have already seen improvement in. She loves it when someone gets down to her level when you meet her, because she just rolls onto her back and takes in all the belly rubs she can get.

Moxie knows some basic commands (no, sit, down), but we are working on mastering a few new ones as well (leave-it, shake, off). I would say she is a medium energy dog with just bursts of energy. She unfortunately came up to Wisconsin with a few weeks remaining of her heartworm treatment, so she has been on restricted exercise (no off the leash play or long walks) until August 3, but she has been easy to manage with just walking around the yard, spending time outdoors and chewing on toys. On the bright side, her most recent heartworm test came back negative so she is well on her way to a healthy, happy life and would be so excited to celebrate this with finding her forever home.

The Wisconsin vet noted some tartar accumulation. Moxie would benefit from a dental in the next 1-2 years. In the meantime, she can eat dental treats to help prevent new tartar accumulation.

Moxie has also been doing well on the leash during our short walks, and loves to pass the time sitting outside with our two other dogs watching people walk by. She is also goofy and when she is really tired, I can't help but laugh at how stretched out on her back she can get. If you are looking for a gentle, loving companion and cuddle buddy, Moxie may just be your girl!
