Monte is a happy go lucky girl who loves people, loves other dogs and just generally loves life in general. She is a typical puppy who will jump on people for attention and is still working on potty training, but is doing very well! She goes outside for potty breaks on a schedule and she always does her business right away, but I don’t trust her to free roam the house yet. She stays in a puppy pen when unattended and will complain if you leave the house without her, so if you need her to be quiet she wears a spray bark collar and she is perfectly silent when it’s on. She loves to socialize, run zoomies in the yard and we also discovered she loves the water and is a very good swimmer! She also loves to splash around in her water bowl so we keep the water outside on the deck. She would love a home with a playful doggy sibling because she LOVES other dogs, but would also settle for being an only dog as long as she gets lots of playdates and dog park trips. She thinks everyone wants to play with her and is not always good at reading signals from other dogs if they are not interested in playing. She would do best with either another playful dog or a dog who isn’t shy about telling her to back off when they’ve had enough.
Monte loves kids but she is very jumpy, so may be a bit overwhelming for small kiddos. She is pretty high energy and loves to run and chase. She probably gets about 2-3 hours of outdoor running/playing time per day and that doesn’t really tire her out, she’s always up for another walk or play session. She will run after a ball but has yet to bring it back. She prefers to chase another dog who is running after a ball - that’s way more fun! She settles very well in the house when we come inside, and will go right to her bed to take a nap.
Monte met my barn cats and wagged her tail politely at them but was too scared of them to approach. Definitely no prey drive. She rides great in the car and just curls up on the passenger seat and sleeps. She is low/non shedding and will need regular haircuts. I am guessing she will be between 15-18 pounds full grown.
