Maddie was surrendered to Fetch a few months ago and shortly after surrender, we discovered that she was pregnant. She birthed and raised six beautiful pups who have all gone to their new homes. Maddie is now fully recovered from her pregnancy and birth and has been spayed, so now she is looking for her forever home. Maddie’s pups were very popular with adopters and Maddie is hoping that even though she isn’t a cute roly poly puppy, someone will see her for the gem that she is!
Maddie is just about the lowest maintenance dog you could ask for. She’s potty trained, loves her crate but can also be trusted to free roam, great with other dogs, great with cats, great on a leash but doesn’t really need one as she will follow right at your heels, and has perfect recall. She hardly ever barks, maybe a woof or two if she sees someone outside (but not every time). Her only downside, if I can call it that, is that she is VERY submissive with both people and other dogs. She’s so submissive that she won’t eat her food or take a treat around my other dogs, and I have to put her in another room so she’s brave enough to eat. She will tentatively go up to people for pets but is still a bit head shy. She loves kids and is very gentle with them. She is starting to play with my dogs but is easily frightened by dogs with a rough play style and will cower on the ground. She prefers chase to wrestle, but only with dogs she knows. She is too shy to play with strange dogs. She is not a dog who would enjoy doggy daycare, she’d rather be home with the people and dogs that she knows.
Maddie has a corded coat like a poodle so she will need regular haircuts. She does very well with grooms.
Maddie is looking for someone who will be patient with her for the first few days and give her time to feel comfortable. When she comes out of her shell she’s the sweetest, happiest girl.
