Meet Mimi!

When this tiny girl first arrived in Wisconsin, she had just been picked up as a stray in Louisiana and was fighting a skin infection, ear infection and kennel cough.  Needless to say, she was not feeling her best!  But after a few days in our home, after her ailments started to clear up, her true personality started to shine through. True to her breed (which we think is Yorkie mix), Mimi started to show her spunky side.

If you are looking for a mellow lap dog, Mimi is not that pup! In fact, Mimi has quite a bit of energy and if she doesn’t have appropriate ways to get her energy out, Mimi will find ways to get into trouble.  She is particularly fond of chewing on cloth things, like socks she finds on the floor.  Though she is small, she can definitely chew her way through a sock!

Mimi currently lives with our resident dogs and another foster.  It took a few days, but now Mimi loves roughhousing with the other dogs in the home, even though they are bigger (and sometimes much bigger than her).  Mimi is one tough little pup! We do have one older resident dog who is about Mimi’s size, and unfortunately, Mimi doesn’t get the “hint” that this dog does not want to play and constantly pesters her.

Mimi also lives with her foster parents and our one-year old baby.  She enjoys getting pets and affection from the adults in the home and she mostly ignores the baby.   When Mimi first got to Wisconsin, she said “NOPE” to walking on a leash.  However, with practice, she has learned that going for walks is ok and maybe even enjoyable, and now she goes on walks almost daily with the bigger dogs in the house.  She’s doing pretty well with leash walking overall, she just gets a little nervous at times (After all, the world can be pretty daunting when you only weigh 7 pounds).

While Mimi’s skin infection is gone, her fur has yet to completely grow in so she does currently have some bald patches.  Once her coat is back to normal though, given her breed, it is likely that she will require regular grooming.  Mimi is also working on potty training and will need continued work on this.  Finally, Mimi is crated at night and periodically during the day.  While she does not love her crate, she tolerates it and will settle down in her crate after a few minutes.

If you are looking for a tiny pup with lots of personality and love to give, come meet Mimi!
