Lulu found her family on October 18, 2020!
Lulu is a very sweet girl and loves to be where I am. While she is good with people and very chill around the house, she would be best as an only dog. It took her a while to warm up to my resident dog and while they do play pretty well together now, she does occasionally growl or snarl at him. She has not completely warmed up to my other foster dog. She is ok to be around him now when supervised so I can redirect her when she growls/snarls at him. Her paperwork from Louisiana indicates she should NOT be around female dogs. If you have a pet-free household and are looking for a low-key dog who just wants to be around you and can be left out of her crate when you’re gone, Lulu may be the one for you!
On a typical weekday, we get up around 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. and go outside to go potty before Lulu eats breakfast in my bedroom (the dogs all eat separately to avoid issues). If it’s a work day, she gets some more time outside before going into my bedroom while I’m away at work. If it’s not a work day, she usually spends some time snuggled up next to me on the couch before going on a midday walk. She walks really well on leash and loves exploring my neighborhood. She does like walks and now likes playing with my resident dog but she is otherwise low energy and doesn’t require a lot of exercise to get her energy out. Dinner is around 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. and after more outdoor and couch snuggle time, she goes to bed snuggled up next to me.
Additional details about Lulu: She saw my cat through a baby gate and wasn't quite sure what to do. Would be best as an only pet. She was good with my nieces (2 and 5 years old) - was very gentle and patient. But I think she would do best in a home with older kids or no kids just to keep her anxiety/insecurity down. She does better when I leave her out in my room when I'm gone as opposed to the crate. She has gotten out of the crate. I think she could free roam through the whole house when I'm gone if not for my resident dog who stays out in the living room/kitchen. She rides nicely in the car and walks well on leash. I haven't tried taking her running but I think she'd enjoy it. She doesn't chew on non-toys. She would be ok for a beginner dog owner provided they keep her at a good distance from other dogs on walks, etc. She shouldn't go to a dog park with other dogs around.
Overall, Lulu is a great girl who deserves a chance at a nice quiet home where she can be with her people and enjoy life.
