McKenna's typical day includes stretching out for a nap after breakfast, playing with her squeaky toys and chews, and her favorite - running and tumbling around the dog park with her foster brother. McKenna enjoys sleeping in until around 10am but is happy to rise earlier with her humans. Once she is up, we go outside for a walk and then head back inside for some breakfast and snuggles. After breakfast, McKenna enjoys a nice mid-morning nap until our afternoon visit to the dog park with her foster brother, where she tumbles around and plays for about an hour. After the dog park McKenna takes her afternoon nap. At dinner time we take a short walk, get some food, and the play inside until her nighttime walk, and then it's off to bed!

She absolutely loves her humans and is a joy to snuggle up with. When meeting strangers and children she has relaxed body language and is wiggly with excitement. McKenna absolutely loves attention, whether its playing tug of war or getting belly rubs. Her sweetness and kindness show through to everyone she meets.

McKenna is a generally a medium energy pup. She needs playtime to tire out her puppy zoomies and energy, but she is content to take extended naps throughout the day. McKenna is still learning her leash manners, but she is very responsive to voice calls such as "this way, McKenna" and with some training she will be a dream to walk. McKenna is also fond of taking jogs with her humans and would be a fantastic running partner.

McKenna absolutely loves meeting and playing with other dogs. Her favorite activity is playing with her foster brother both inside and outside the home. When meeting other dogs, McKenna is sometimes shy, especially if they are much larger than her, but she is always happy to make new friends and warms up very quickly. She has not been around cats yet.

She experiences some separation anxiety because McKenna is still learning that her humans will always return. After a couple minutes, she quickly settles down into a nap and is content to sleep in her crate. When left alone outside the crate for brief periods of time, she has never been destructive or been found chewing on something she shouldn't be. Overall, she is acclimating well to her crate and has never had an accident. McKenna does best when her crate is near one of her humans while they are working, cooking, or hanging out. This helps her know that she is safe.

McKenna is currently undergoing treatment for ear hematomas, which occur when a blood vessel in the ear bursts and bleeds into the space between the ear cartilage and skin. She received small incisions to relieve swelling on 10/30/2020 which were closed with several sutures. She will need to wear an E-Collar and complete her 2 week cycle of steroid treatment. McKenna will need a checkup in 3-4 weeks to assess the ears, remove the sutures, and determine if any additional treatment is needed.

McKenna is an absolute joy in our lives, and she will be an amazing pup for her forever family. She is cuddly and enjoys lounging while still having a rambunctious side that comes out when she's tumbling around outside. She is easygoing and flexible, excited to learn new tricks, and happy to express her love to her humans.
