Matilda found her forever family on January 13, 2021!
Meet Matilda! She is a spunky, entertaining little thing and she is ready to brighten up the lives of her forever family.
Matilda is a very typical, 10 week old puppy. She spends her days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with her foster siblings (though she isn't a fan of the cold or snow) and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and has a pretty impressive sniffer in seeking out her food stuffs (or the human's food stuffs). She is a pretty vocal girl in general and has a very houndy howl/bark. She will bark when playing or when she needs a break from the crate so she may do best in a home without shared walls. She plays hard but loves to snuggle with the humans and her puppy friends as the evening winds down.
Matilda is a pretty friendly girl and just takes a few seconds to approach new friends, especially if they have treats. She is playful and loves to interact with the humans. We haven't seen her with kids but she is pretty mouthy and could use some work on her bite inhibition so she would need close supervision with really young kids until she learns those boundaries. She loves to get pets from the people and snuggle up close to them when she is ready for a nap.
She currently has three other pups in her foster home; two adult dogs and another puppy a little older than her. She plays mostly with the other puppy. She really wants to be friends with the adult dogs, but they are less interested. She can be excitable with the bigger dogs and doesn't think twice about taking things from them, so she is a pretty brave and confident pup. She is very playful/loves other dogs and would do great with another pup in her forever home but would also be fine as a solo doggo if her humans are willing to engage with her.
Matilda does have a kitty in her foster home that she is excited about. Her tail nubbin goes bananas when she sees the kitty through the gate. She wants to play with the kitty so may need some boundary setting from the humans and cat. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat but as always, we recommend slow intros to new pets in the home.
Matilda gets most of her energy out playing with the other pups in her home. She loves wrestling and playing with toys. She is a medium-high energy gal that likes long naps after play time. We are still working on leash skills, but she is slowly getting the hang of it. She does well in the car (crated), though she has gotten car sick a few times. She is always up for an adventure, so she would be a great pup to take on adventures to parks, hiking trails or outdoor patios (once able to do so).
Matilda isn't left alone too often but when we do leave, she needs to be crated as she is still very much a puppy. She will chew on cords, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored. She has been doing well with potty training on a schedule though she hates the cold and snow so we have to walk around a bit with her to make sure she goes. She settles into the crate (in the next room) while I work. She does perk up and chat a bit if she hears others in the home getting ready but settles back in after things quiet back down. She has been quiet in the crate for about 4 hours at a time before she starts to get antsy. She has needed breaks overnight, but this is becoming less frequent.
We have loved having this sweet, spunky pup with us and know she will bring lots of love and personality with her to her forever home!
