Updates

PUPDATE 2

Louise has settled into her foster home quite well. She is fully potty trained and we've had no accidents in the house after her first couple of days. She has been introduced to a prong collar and has made great progress with her leash manners. She still has room for improvement with leash pulling when excited, but has definitely come a long way when compared to day 1. She has been on a couple of playdates and is now enjoying spending time making friends at a doggy daycare a few times a week. She loves running around and playing with other dogs. Though it is not a requirement, we think she would greatly enjoy having a yard and/or another dog to play with at her forever home.

PUPDATE 1

Louise wakes up and is let out of her crate between 7-7:30 AM in the morning. She is very excited to see us in the AM and gives us loads of kisses. We take her for a 20-30 minute walk first thing in the morning. She's fed around 8:30 AM and takes a quick potty break after. She plays for a little while and either naps or chills on the couch while we work. She likes spending time on the patio, watching people go by. We take her out for quick breaks during the day until she's fed again in the evening, after which we take her on another 20-minute walk. She has playtime and snuggles before going to bed in her crate around 10:30 PM.

Louise is very friendly and loves meeting new people, both in the house and during walks. While on walks, she sometimes barks at strangers but is friendly when they come closer or are open to petting her.

Louise has had no exposure to children or cats.

Louise is a medium-high energy dog. She loves going on walks and playing with her toys when inside the house. She needs at least two 20-minute fun walks for exercise and exploration along with a few quick outings for relieving herself. She is very strong and pulls pretty hard on her leash when she gets excited during walks. We have been trying to train her to not tug on her leash as much, but she would definitely benefit from more leash training.

While outside on walks, she gets very excited when she spots another dog. She barks and pulls on her leash. We haven't seen Louise with other dogs inside the house, but know that she lived with several dogs in her previous foster home.

We have only left Louise home alone in her crate for less than an hour at a time. Though she is crate-trained, she whines and barks quite a bit in the beginning when we leave. She does seem to have some anxiety with separation but eventually calms down and goes to sleep.
