Lola found her family on September 21, 2020!

PUPDATE 2

-Lola is up to 29.lbs now according to the vet visit from 8/21, so she has gained about 7 lbs since we took her in back in April.

-Lola is definitely doing better on the potty training side of things.  Fetch let us know that a lot of that issue may have been related to the heartworm treatment protocol and the Prednisone medication that she was on in varying dosages as a part of that.  Lola was on that medication from the end of May through early August and potty issues are a known side effect of the drug.  We have learned taking her outside immediately after her meals in the morning and at dinner helps the most.  We always take her out after long naps too. She has become better about telling us when she has to go as well by heading to the front door.

-We've got a question or two about how she is with small children.  We don't really know quite honestly.  There was no specific incident that made us feel that way and it may just be her shyness around strangers.  Our kids are all 14 and up and when Lola gets playful she can move around pretty quickly without much care about who she runs into, so it helps to be bigger than her.  She does not get more aggressive around smaller children or anything like that.

PUPDATE 1

Lola wakes up slowly around 6 am and we take her and our dog outside for a potty break. They both then eat together. We typically take Lola out quickly after that (she let's us know by heading to the front door) for a poop break. We have both and now one of us continues to work from home, so someone has been home with her all day since we got her 4 months ago. Lola will typically play a while with our other dog, then goes up to our daughter’s bedroom and will sleep much of the day in her room.

She was extremely scared of all of us when we took her in. She is now very approachable and comfortable around all of us. We let her sit on the front lawn on her own with a leash, as she loves to sit in the grass on sunny days. Usually she lets out a few barks when other people and pets walk by.

Lola is very high energy when she isn't sleeping. Lola will need a lot of exercise. It's been tough for us to allow it, as her heartworm treatment required a lot of activity restriction or cage rest which she finishes August 21. Lola likes to lead not follow as when we do take her on walks with our other dog, she tugs pretty good on the leash if she is behind our dog.

We don't know how she does with cats as we haven't had her around any, but she does well with our dog. They play and rest together and get along great. Our dog is a much smaller 15 lb dog.  Fetch can cat test Lola if needed.

We haven't left her alone much since we've had her. The longest she's ever been alone is probably 4 hours. We always put her in her plastic kennel when we leave her alone though and she is fine when we return.

Lola lives in a home with 14 and 15 year old children. She behaves well with them, though they are big enough to handle her. We would recommend her go to a home with no small children.

Lola is a beautiful and sleek-looking dog. She still needs a little inside / outside training. We felt that we couldn't really go head on training in the four months we have had her so far, due to her heartworm treatment protocol that is now coming to an end. We feel she's very teachable, as she just recently learned to respond to 'sit' command without much work at all. She was taken in has a stray in Texas, and has overcome a great deal so far going from a total fear of humans to affection towards us. We are confident she can be a great pet for somebody.
