Almond found his forever family on September 25, 2020! He will go by the name Copper.
Meet Almond!! This sweet pup has gone through a lot to get to Wisconsin to find his furever home! You may notice Almond looks a little different, he’s newly a tripod! After journeying up from Louisiana with a broken femur, he got the care he needed and is all ready for a long happy life. Almond does not let having three legs slow him down! The week he was in Wisconsin before his surgery, he was a typical puppy, playing with his foster siblings as much as he could with his activity restrictions. He will be restricted for a little while, during his healing process. He is counting down the days until he can get out and learn to run!
Almond's typical day starts around 5 am going out to potty after keeping his crate clean and dry all night, he goes right away in his potty area then has some time to roam free supervise in the house (to prevent playing rough with foster siblings and chewing). He's crated for 4 hours then let out again on lunch break, and back to the kennel for another 4 hours before the evening, then he gets more time outside in his play area and a 5 minute walk around the yard, followed by icing of his incision area. Bedtime is around 9 pm and he goes in his kennel without fuss and is quiet all night.
Almond isn't scared of meeting new people at all! He's been around lots of new people and enjoyed feeling loved. Almond met some older kids around 10 years old and did well!
He has typical puppy energy and will surely enjoy getting that out once he's healed and can play more. He would do great in a fenced in yard with the ability to run when he wants to at his own pace.
Almond loves his foster siblings! He's great with younger puppies and older pups alike. He's up to play with them, but knows when they say it's time to rest, that he can't bother them anymore. Almond did stay with a cat in the house for a night and did okay, he wasn't sure what the cat was and barked at him but didn't seem to want to do more than play.
This little guy is great in his kennel! He currently has a larger kennel so he can maneuver around with the cone on while his sutures heal, and he keeps it clean and dry! He's given a chew or frozen peanut butter Kong treat toy to occupy his time, but he seems content to snuggle up when he has to. He's never really alone, as his foster siblings are all in the same room as his kennel, so he enjoys the company.
