Leia was adopted on June 12, 2021!

Leia sleeps in her kennel at night and quickly settles in without much whining. She typically is in the kennel from about 9 pm until 5 am when she is let out to go potty and have some play time. Breakfast is about 6 am and then she goes out and has more playtime while we get ready for work and school. She goes out again before being kenneled while we are at work and school. We do work from home so she is in the kennel for about 3 hours at a time before being let out to go potty and have more play time. Dinner is about 6 pm and there is lots of evening playtime and recently we have been doing about a mile long walk after dinner.

Leia has done very well meeting new people. She has loved everyone she has met both inside the house and outside. She does get jumpy when greeting people,

She has not been around young children. Leia currently lives in a house with a 12 and 14 year old and does great with them. She has also met neighborhood teens and has done well with all of them.

Leia is very energetic and loves to play. She is great at playing fetch and will run to get the ball and bring it back to have you throw it again. She has also done well on walks. We have recently done a few walks of about a mile. She follows our 7-year-old dog and does very well. She will likely need more training on leash manners without an older dog to follow.

Leia loves to play with her littermate and our 7-year-old lab. She wrestles and chases them which helps to wear her out. She has also met some neighborhood dogs and showed no aggression or issues. One of the dogs (a pug) she has met both inside and outside. Leia has no exposure to cats

She is kenneled when she is alone. She does well in the kennel.

Leia was hospitalized with parvo late April/early May. Supportive care was provided and she was discharged after about a week at the emergency vet. Once a dog clears parvo symptoms, there is no risk of them coming back (as long as the dog remains vaccinated). Shortly following adoption, you may need to be a bit cautious where you bring your pup as they could still be shedding the virus for a short time following the resolution of symptoms.

Leia is a typical puppy who will need someone to take time to train her. Leia is a sweet puppy who loves to chase the ball play outside. Once she has had lots of play time she likes to snuggle with her humans and with the other dogs in our home. She loves food and is motivated to learn. She knows how to sit and learned this very quickly. She is very energetic when eating and a bowl that slows down her eating would be good for her. She does chew on things at times but is good with redirection when you give her a bone or other chew toy. She is a bit skittish around the vacuum and a lawn mower when we were walking.

Leia will be a great addition to a family!
