Updates

Lady gets up with her foster mom around 6 am to go for her first walk and have breakfast. She hangs out in her crate while her foster mom is at work. She gets a break in the middle of the day to go to the bathroom and hang out with me while her foster mom has lunch. She goes on her last walk around 7 pm before having dinner. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom and her foster brother, but would be okay to sleep in her crate as well.

Lady is a very sweet and chill dog who occasionally gets the wiggles or zoomies when she’s excited to see her people, or wants to play with her foster’s dog.

On walks, Lady is curious about passing people but does not jump on them or lunge for them.

When meeting new people, Lady can be shy but warms up quickly. When she is with her foster brother, she is much more confident and wiggly with new people.

Lady is interested in children on walks but has not met any children while with her foster.

Lady is great on leash! She pulls occasionally to get to an interesting smell, but she is very tolerant of trying new harnesses or lead techniques if needed.

Lady would love to have another dog to play with or be able to go to doggy daycare to get her zoomies out! She does amazing with a fenced back yard as well. However, she has also done really well with a few short walks in her day and a little tug-of-war. She is an easy-going gal.

Lady has done amazingly with every dog she has encountered in foster care so far. She has been very respectful of other dogs’ cues, and has backed off when other dogs have found her to be too much.

On walks, she has been interested in the other dogs she sees but does not pull roughly toward them or bark. She has met one dog on a walk and did very well.

When lady first came into her foster home she completely ignored the cat. She has since become more interested when she sees the cat, but will not chase him. She is very responsive to the word “no” and will give the cat more space when she hears that.

She has pawed at the cat a few times, which is very similar to how the resident dog interacts with the cat.

Lady is very quiet when left alone in her crate. She will sleep or play with the toys she is left with. She has had zero accidents in her crate. She has not destroyed any of the bedding in her crate. She has taken apart a stuffed toy in her crate, but the squeakers are the best part anyway!

She was left alone in a room for approximately 3 hours and did chew the corner of a pillow, but still no accidents and very quiet.

Lady was positive for Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, in April but is not showing any clinical signs. A positive result for Anaplasmosis just indicates antibodies to this bacteria, not necessarily active infection. Per our rescue protocol, she is currently being given a round of antibiotics.

Lady can get excited when you get on her level to pet her and play with her. For example, sitting on the floor with her, or inviting her onto the couch or the bed with you. She loves to coat your face in kisses, and she has occasionally given some “love nips” on the arms, which can hurt like a tough pinch, but have never broken skin. She responds well (stops the behavior) when you distance yourself from her, or when you give her a toy to chew instead. The behavior has greatly decreased in the 3 weeks she has been in foster care so far. It is something to be careful of, especially around children.

Lady is an all-around great, sweet girl looking for her forever home!
