Updates

Officially adopted on January 15, 2021 for little Koda!

Koda loves strawberries and bell peppers!  He just loves to play games where he can sniff out these favorite treats. He loves being pet and to be near his humans as much as possible when they are home. Koda knows a lot of basic commands already including sit, stay, out and paw. He struggles with sitting and staying sometimes when excited about going outside. He can also get vocal, mostly a cute Husky whine not barking, when he gets excited about going out and eating. He appears to be Shepard/Husky mix but paperwork only lists Husky.

He does great sleeping both in and out of his crate and does well generally. He particularly likes spots where he can look out the window. He eats a morning and evening meal, with training treats interspersed. He is crated when we are out of the home, which is only occasionally for a full day, and he does well. He plays (e.g. fetch) in short stints only. He goes on multiple walks a day and also plays some mind and smelling games every day.

Koda loves everyone he's been introduced to outside the home. He barks or whines when delivery drivers come to the door, but otherwise ignores people on the sidewalk. No exposure to other people in the home.

Although he's not interacted with children while fostering, his prior family had a young daughter that he seemed to interact well with.

We tend to go for one long walk ~2-4 miles, and a few shorter bathroom breaks; this could likely be much less with a fenced in yard. We play some mental stimulating games to train his mind and nose. Koda pulls on the leash at times but has improved considerably during the short time (3 weeks) we've fostered him.

Koda needs to be tethered for car rides, or he will crawl into your lap. He often growls when taking high value objects such as bones from him, but he allows them to be taken, and shows no possession of normal food.

He has had limited interactions with other dogs but has socialized well on leash outside with other dogs. No exposure to other dogs or cats inside his foster home.

Koda does well left alone to free roam and generally just sleeps!
