Meet Miss Julep! She is a very sweet young pup who loves her people, toys and treats! She is an absolute dream when it comes to her crate. Throw a few treats in and that’s all it takes. She will even go in for naps on her own during the day AND even takes herself to bed at night! How helpful is that?!?

Julep wakes up when you get her up – typically between 6am-7am. She sleeps all night in her crate without a peep. When I am getting ready, I put her back in her crate. Then back out for breakfast followed by a morning walk and some yard time. During the workday, she will play with toys, chew on a hard chew, like a Benebone, and nap. She gets let outside a couple of times for potty breaks and fresh air. In the evening, Julep gets a long walk, dinner, more playing with toys and running around the yard. I let her out one last time before bed, around 10:30pm, and she gets a toothbrush treat in her crate.

Julep has done great with potty training and has not had any accidents while in our care, with the exception of a couple excited pees. We do get her out regularly and routine does help. she has even started to go by the back door when she needs to be let out.

Julep loves to be around her people. She wants to be where you are and see what’s going on. Julep and my younger resident dog are slowly starting to engage in play. They are trying to figure out each others play style. I also have two older resident dogs and Julep is learning their grumpy old dog boundaries. Julep’s previous sitter reported that Julep loved to play with their two Fetch dogs. I am sure Julep would absolutely love a sibling to play with but would be fine as an only dog. I think doggy daycare would be great for her to keep her social and get some of her puppy energy out.

Julep hasn’t barked much at all, even when mine are letting us know the Amazon truck has arrived. Even as people pass by the house, she will just stand there and watch.

Julep does great on a leash, and we are currently walking her on just a collar. A harness might be beneficial for the minimal times that she does pull. Sometimes there is a really good scent she has to get a good sniff of! She has not shown any signs of being reactive.

Julep has not been exposed to children or cats in our care. Julep has a tendency to jump up when excited. We are working on the “off” command and having her sit before she gets attention. She is getting it, but needs continued training on this. Julep can sometimes be shy with new people so she may need a little time to warm up. It doesn’t take long! Because of her sometimes shy behavior, children who understand dog boundaries would be best.

Julep is a very sweet and smart pup. She catches on to to learning new things quickly. Julep can’t wait to meet you! You will just melt when you look at her sweet face.

Due to Julep’s age and likelihood to be a larger breed, she has not yet been spayed. She will be adopted out with an addendum to the adoption agreement to be altered at an appropriate age.
