Meet Jamon! Jamon is a laid back, easy-going, snuggly pup that is just waiting for his forever family to find him and scoop him right up! He is super friendly with both dogs and people and kids - he LOVED getting pets from kiddos at our last Fetch event. He is completely potty trained and does great in the crate when I am away at work. He will whine for a few minutes when first left alone in the crate but calms himself down shortly after. He can also be crated overnight and snuggles in when he knows it is time to go to bed. He sleeps on a dog bed beside my bed and understands he is not allowed on the bed at night. Besides letting out a few barks at loud noises, he is pretty quiet so he could do well in an apartment (he currently resides in one with me).
Jamon is a great walk buddy and follows my lead on the leash. We usually go on three short walks and one long one during the day and this is enough to tire him out by the end of the day. Besides walks, he loves to play fetch with squeaky toys! He would love some more durable toys as he is quite good at tearing them apart. He will not chew on any other household items though and is not destructive otherwise, so he could definitely free roam throughout the day if you are away.
When Jamon meets a new person, he does jump up on them to get closer to them. We are working on keeping all four paws on the floor. Besides this, he has been learning "sit", "stay", etc. He is treat motivated so training with him, if consistent, should be a breeze! He does not know his name yet (so it could be changed), but he is very responsive to me when I work on these commands with him.
Jamon is the sweetest pup. He is quite content lounging by his humans, where ever they may be. He loves snuggles and pets. He has been a super respectful house guest with my resident dog, giving him space when he is eating and resting. I think he would love another pup to play with but would also do fine as an only dog with enough attention from his humans. He has not met cats with me. but does not have a high prey drive so I think he would do just fine with a feline friend in the house. Overall, Jamon has been the best foster pup and will make a wonderful addition to any family!
