Jaeger found his final family February 2, 2021!
We wake up early in the morning and go outside for potty. Jaeger eats his dry food mixed with a small amount of wet food. Once it is light outside, we go for a walk which he loves! He is content relaxing most of the day. We go outside in the afternoon or evening and walk around the farm we live on; he likes to see all the cows and chickens. He eats just dry food in the evening. He will sometimes play with his rope or ball throughout the day. He loves butcher bones from the meat market.
He does great with people! He follows his foster mom wherever she goes! He loves all the people that live in his foster home. He is slightly slow to warm up to strangers but adapts quickly! He's always looking for attention and a snuggle.
We have adult children in the home, but my niece brought her 2 and 6 year old kids over and he did great!
Jaeger is low to moderate energy. He is fine with one 30-minute walk per day. He does fairly well on the leash, but we continue to do leash training. He does react to cars and can get distracted by his surroundings. He has only walked in our wooded area, we have not gone into town yet to see how he does.
He does well with our resident dogs as does not really try to interact much, but he is still adjusting. He has growled a few times if he is jealous or when he is eating. He is not at all aggressive with them, I think just trying to find his place in the pecking order!
He does well with our cat. Jaeger watches the male cat, but does not show much interest.
Jaeger is free to roam when nobody is home. He does not like his crate and will not go in it.
The vet has recommended Jaeger lose some weight to hit about 110 pounds. A dental may be recommended in the next 1-2 years. Jaeger is being treated for Lyme and Anaplasma with a month of antibiotics. He has not shown any clinical signs and was treated to be proactive.
Jaeger is no small dog and he can be stubborn at times for trips in the car and bath time. He lacks basic training and would benefit from a training class. An adopter should plan to continue working to build his confidence when getting a collar and leash on. He does well on leash but can sometimes veer in other directions. Jaeger would do best with an experienced owner to each him boundaries and basic training. He has already grown so much in his foster home!
Jaeger is still gaining confidence and trying to adjust to his new surroundings. He has made huge strides since we came into our home! He is a fast learner, so training has been going well. He is still working on basic commands and knows sit and down! He is such a sweet and loving dog! He is already so loyal and just loves people! He will follow you everywhere! He loves belly rubs and a good snuggle!
