February 1 marks Benton’s adoption day!
Benton wakes up at 7am and goes outside to go potty. Then, he eats 1.5 cups of food in his kennel and goes for a short walk. He spends most of the day playing with toys while his foster mom works from home. In the evening, he plays, goes on a walk, and will eventually cuddle on the couch after chasing the cat.
Benton loves people! When he's meeting new people, he has to go potty right before or he excitedly pees on the floor. He wants to say “hi” to everyone on a walk, and is easily distracted by someone on the other side of the road. He has no exposure to children.
He is a high energy pup! Bentley loves to play and especially loves to chew on toys or his teething bones. Benton gets walked three times a day and it seems necessary for his energy level. He's still working on leash manners and he wants to have his nose down sniffing the whole time but can be corrected.
Benton has never met a dog inside of our home. He has met one dog inside of her home and she didn't like him but, he just wanted to play. His previous Texas foster home had multiple dogs and he played with them a lot.
He is very interested in cats, and he will spend most of the evening sniffing around trying to find her. My cat hisses and growls when he gets too close, and he seems to get the hint but, he has been known to chase her if there isn't a human in the room to correct his behavior.
Benton is very well crate trained. He loves his crate and even goes in there voluntarily when the cat is growling too much. He has also spent time in a room with a baby gate up but, has been known to chew through cords, toys, and even a cardboard box. Puppy proofing is a necessity.
Benton has 4 retained deciduous canine teeth. He is definitely still teething, and the vet expects these to fall out on their own however, if they do not, he will need the teeth extracted.
He is a smart, sweet boy who loves attention and is a little mischievous. He has only had one accident in the house and lets you know when he needs to go outside.
