Updates

Izzy is a sweetheart! She is a little cautious in new environments and around new people, but with a bit of patience (and a few treats) she is easily won over. Izzy has a medium amount of energy for a puppy her age. Her motto is “Play Hard, Nap Hard!” She LOVES to play, whether it’s with her foster siblings, her humans, or independently with her toys. Her favorite toy is a stuffed koala that makes a funny grunting sound. Izzy is still learning the difference between how to play with her canine foster siblings versus how to play with her humans, so she needs reminders that mouthiness and barking are no-nos with humans. After playtime is over Izzy likes to snuggle up with her humans and nap (and dream of more playtime!). She’s even a good helper in the kitchen where she’ll happily clean up whatever dog-safe veggies you drop while cooking.

Izzy enjoys being outside as much as possible. She walks well on a leash for her age, but definitely has room for growth in her leash manners. In her current foster home she spends a lot of time in the backyard playing with her canine foster siblings and chewing on sticks. Izzy is still learning not to dig in the ground, so she will need someone to reinforce those good behaviors. Izzy sometimes refuses to come back inside since she's content outside with her warm & fluffy fur coat!

Izzy stays in her crate when she is left alone. She is sometimes hesitant to get in the crate, but after a bit of whining, she settles and relaxes. She can stay in her crate up to 4 hours during the day, and does sleep through the night for 8 hours in her crate. In the morning as soon as she hears her humans get out of bed she starts wagging her tail and pawing at her crate in excitement!

Izzy would do great in a home with other dogs and kids. She’s met young kids a few times and has done great in those encounters. She wants to be part of the fun, so she will chase during games of tag and might chew on toys that aren’t hers. Izzy has also had an interaction with a cat. She showed very little interest in the cat, which was separated from her by a baby gate. With a careful and slow introduction, it’s possible that Izzy would do fine in a home with a cat.
