Updates

Hank is a cuddle bug who just wants belly rubs and head pets all day. He will be happiest in a home where they have lots of love to give him and won't be tired of giving into his petting demands. Every morning Hank gets up between 7AM and 7:30AM and goes for a small walk through the neighborhood. He is so excited to take in the sights and smells that it does take him a little bit to go potty in the morning. He also enjoys getting neighborhood pets and saying hello to anyone who's willing to say hello to him! He will lay down on the grass and wait for both dogs and people to come to him and say hi, and whine a little bit when they don't because he just wants to be everyone's friend.

During the day he hangs out with some resident dogs and cats, and he has a great time listening in on meetings. He looks out the window and gets so happy any time he sees people outside, which is the highlight of his day. After work, he goes for another short walk and then plays with his dog friends until it's time to go to bed. When he's not playing, he is over by his humans asking for pets and snuggles. He can get so into snuggles that he sometimes falls off the couch because he just wants to get closer to you, so that is something for his new family to be mindful of!

Hank is very friendly and sociable. He loves people and wants to say hi to everyone. He's done great with children over the age of 8 but has had no exposure to any young children. He can get a little heavy when leaning and asking for snuggles so those who may not have a lot of arm strength may not want to just give him head pets and not go for the full-on hug.

Outside of the home he'll often lay on the grass and expose his belly or lay on his side so people know he means no harm.

Hank does great with children over the age of 9.

Hank is medium energy - he gets a lot of his energy out by playing with the resident dogs and by chewing on chew toys. He is prone to try and run off with flip flops (slides in particular like the Nike or Under Armor ones) when he's bored and people aren't paying attention to him. It will be important to pick up those shoes! Otherwise, he doesn't chew on anything else he's not supposed to chew on.

Hank does go on two short walks and will sometimes chase a toy. Every time someone gets home from the grocery store or a day at the office he does get the zoomies and will run around in excitement.

Hank's really good with other dogs and loves playing with them. He will often sneeze or roll on his back to let the dogs know that he means no harm, and is good at backing off if he's getting signals that they don't want to play with him. He will then come running up to his human whining, which we take as a sign of him complaining that his friends don't want to play with him anymore!

Hank is good with cats. He can get a little curious if they start crying for food and he will run up to them to see what's going on, but he backs off immediately if they hiss at him. He also obeys "leave it" if you say that to him while he's going up to a cat. He's had a few cuddle sessions with our dog-friendly cat and respects their space.

Hank is left in the crate when he's alone. He does great and sleeps the whole time.

Hank is a sweetheart who would love another dog or some older children companions to hang out with him!
