Updates

Scottie is a sweet 4.5 month old puppy, friendly, with soft, fluffy fur. He sleeps a full night in his crate with his favorite blanket in our bedroom. In the morning, he goes outside with our resident dog and potties; he might need a few sniffs around the yard before going #2. He is a hearty eater, so we feed him from a puzzle bowl, with breakfast around 6:30 am (our schedule). He plays with the resident dog, his toys, or follows the humans around while they do their activities. He goes out for a mid-morning walk and another late afternoon/early evening. He naps a bit in the afternoon and loves to lounge on a dog bed. He gets a snack mid-day, either a chew or a bit of his food in a puzzle toy.  Supper around 5 pm. He walks best on a retractable leash but tends to bite at any leash as he learns his manners. Suggest getting a slip-lead dog leash for best results. He tires after about a mile and may want a little rest along the way. Bedtime around 9 pm after a dental chew as his cue to go to sleep in his crate and settles easily if the humans are also in the room.

Scottie is a very friendly pup and does well with people inside and outside of the home. He has been to a Fetch event and loved the attention.

He interacts well with children; just have to watch him for the puppy mouthing, as his teeth are sharp. Having a toy with you as a distraction is helpful.

Medium to high energy pup. Loves playing with other dogs and will play hard. At least two shortish walks are good per day and walks well on an appropriate leash with a good fitting harness. He likes a game of tug of war with a rope toy pulled by his human (or another dog).

Scottie gets along well with all types of dogs and will play with any of them.

Unknown how Scottie does with cats. Prior foster had a cat but the cat didn't like dogs, so hard to tell.

Scottie can free roam when we are around. If we have to leave, we set him up in a spare bedroom that is puppy-proofed to free roam for up to 3 hours as long as he went potty prior to US leaving. We leave a variety of toys and dog chews for him to use plus a puppy bed as his 'place'.

Scottie knows a few commands such as 'sit', 'come', 'enough'. Working on 'stay', 'leave it'.
