Gunnar found his people July 7, 2021!

Gunnar is an incredible and sweet pup! He loves to sleep and is excellent in his crate, so we usually wake up before him and let him out around 7:15-7:30AM. He gets a cup of puppy food for breakfast and then is content to play by himself and nap almost the entire day. He absolutely loves his humans and affection and wants to sleep on our feet or at our sides throughout the day. We typically go on a medium-length walk (about 20 min) in the morning around 10AM and then a longer walk (about 30-40 min) in the afternoon/evening. He can easily do these longer walks but will take every opportunity to lay down in the grass. He's fairly low energy but will have some bursts of puppy energy where he wants to play tug-of-war or fetch before tiring out and napping. He gets another cup of food at 12:30PM for lunch, and eats another cup for dinner around 6:00PM. Gunnar is great at sit and stay and responds well to "no." We usually put him to bed around 9:45-10:15PM in his crate, but occasionally we'll let him sleep in the bed. Gunnar falls asleep immediately and sleeps soundly through the night.

Gunnar has met quite a few people, both individually and in groups, and does extremely well. He is such a sweet pup and wants to be friends with and get pets from everybody! He loves meeting strangers both in and out of the home and will rollover and show his belly to everyone we meet on the street. He brings a smile to everyone's face!

He has met a few children outside the house and does very well with them. For the most part he's gentle and content to let them pet him. Gunnar is still a puppy though, and from time to time he will jump to give kisses but will settle down quickly when told "no."

Gunnar is a low/medium energy pup. He's happy to go for walks and play fetch and tug-of-war in the house, but he's also more than happy to lay down, nap, and chew on his toys for most of the day. He also loves to nap with his foster parents on the couch. We typically take Gunnar on two longer walks throughout the day (in addition to a few short bathroom break walks) and these are plenty to tire him out. He's very good on his leash and will let you know he's tired by plopping down in the grass.

Gunnar has not met any dogs in the house but is very good with dogs outside. He loves to play with every dog he meets and will perk up when we see dogs on the street. Every now and then when dogs ignore us or doesn't want to play, he will whine and sometimes bark a bit, but he's very quick to move on and continue with the walk. He also plays well with both big and small pups. No exposure to cats.

We don't leave Gunnar alone very often, but when we do, he tends to just sleep on the couch or chew on his toys. He's very good at learning boundaries and does not chew or explore things that he's not supposed to. Gunnar mostly sleeps in his crate in a separate room and has no problem being left in there for extended periods of time.

Gunnar has dermatitis leading to some small scabs and hairless posts on his body. We have been giving him medicated baths and a course of antibiotics to help his skin. Gunnar’s skin has improved quite a bit!

Gunnar is one of the sweetest and dorkiest pups we have met! He loves people and dogs and just brings a smile to everyone he meets! Gunnar really would be a great addition to any family and will make for an incredible best friend.
