Gretchen is the sweetest! She spends her days playing, napping, and getting as many snuggles as she can. With those ears and the softest fur, it’s pretty hard not to oblige her.
She’s fully housebroken and crates well overnight or during the day. We have been working on her leash manners as she is a puller and can get very distracted by sight and sounds. She’s especially drawn to wildlife: squirrels, bunnies, birds, and occasionally, leaves. A harness has been working wonders with her pulling so would recommend continued use of that. She is smart and a pleaser; command-wise she’s mastered “sit” and we are working on “down” and “come”.
Gretchen is growing into a really mellow and good-natured dog but she is still a puppy – she’s been known to grab an article of clothing if she wants to get my attention or jump on me - but with a few focused minutes of play she is usually able to settle back down. I typically crate her when not home to prevent any boredom-induced shenanigans.
She. Loves. Toys. I put them into a box at night and in the morning she gets every one out to hoard around her while playing. She's great at self-entertaining but also loves to play with you! She does like to tail me around, so she’d probably be best in a home with people and/or pets to keep her company and as play partners. Gretchen was previously fostered with other dogs and did great and is usually very friendly when meeting dogs out on walks. She hasn’t been around cats.
She can get scared of loud noises – my vacuum being a huge culprit – but otherwise she’s pretty adventurous. She’s not afraid of strangers, has mastered the elevator and stairs in my apartment building, and jumps in and out of the car with ease.
She may also be better in a less urban setting. While she’s been acclimating well to the city, access to more grassy areas and quieter street traffic would suit her disposition better.
If you are looking for a fun-loving and loyal sidekick, look no further. Gretchen can’t wait to snuggle you!
