Gigi found her family on October 13, 2020!
Say hello to Gigi! This sweet little girl was found as a stray in Louisiana after the hurricane last month. The poor thing was covered in flea bites and is growing back patchy hair from flea bite scabs. This little lady is a very gentle little girl who just wants to snuggle up with her humans. One of her favorite spots to sit is the back of the couch right behind your neck. She starts her day with a 15 minute walk then has breakfast and naptime in her crate while I'm working. At lunchtime we'll have a potty break then she'll snooze in her crate again the rest of the afternoon while I'm working. In the evening, we get in another walk and then couch snuggles for the rest of the evening. Bedtime means dinner and then she sleeps the night in her crate.
Gigi is a little bit shy and reserved but she loves to meet new people. She is generally very calm and gentle when new people come inside and will let people pick her up and hold her, etc. She is sometimes a little skittish with loud noises and sometimes nervous with people reaching overhead to pet her. Gigi has not met children while with me so I can't make any sound judgements, but I suspect she would do well with calmer or older children since she's usually quite gentle.
Gigi has a good low to medium energy level as she has energy for play time with her toys, but is also happy to sit around a snuggle for a while. She doesn't walk super well on a leash and will drag behind sometimes, but as she's gotten used to the leash, she's improved. She likely had never seen a leash before in her life as a stray in Louisiana!
Gigi currently lives with four other dogs and has met others and has done extremely well with all types of dogs. She is pretty submissive and doesn't seem to want to play with other dogs, but coexists with them very well. Gigi also currently lives with two cats and does well - she generally just ignores them.
Gigi is not 100% potty trained so I usually crate her when I leave the house. She does better when I keep her on a schedule of potty breaks every 2-3 hours and has gotten a little better as she's gotten used to my house. She does not yet know how to ask to go outside when she needs to potty.
Gigi is a very gentle and loving little lady who just wants lots of pets and attention and snuggles from some kind humans!
