Hi my name is Garth. I’m a grumpy looking little guy but when I get to know you, I am a great snuggler and happy little dude. I like a quieter, low key kind of lifestyle. I would love an older doggie sibling to hang with and play a little bit with in the yard (10-15 minutes). I like my siblings under 40 pounds, bigger than that scares me. Other dogs build my confidence and comfort level. I do better in a fenced yard so I can run free. I don’t need walks, just a little fresh air and outdoor play. I can handle a walk, if you have to have one.
I am fully potty trained and can free roam without getting into trouble. I am only 6 months old so I do need to go out every 4-5 hours. I like having my people home more than they are gone but I am quiet when they leave. If you have to work from home, I can nap like a champ, while you are busy. I like to sleep on the couch and sleep on the bed with my people. I bond much faster that way. I’m not a bed hog, I promise.
My start to life was very rough but I survived distemper so I’m tough. I don’t like to talk about it, but humans were not nice to me as a wee tot so I have to develop better memories so those bad memories go away.
I take time to warm up to people. I will voice my opinion about them in my house but if you ignore me, I will settle down and will eventually accept them. I am working on “Settle.” Patience and love wins me over pretty fast (Treats help too). I love babies but kids move fast and scare me. I am better in a home without younger kids all the time.
I am not afraid of vacuums, fire works, lawn mowers or any loud noises. I like to be pet when I am sleeping. I am a sucker for a good belly rub. I have been to a few stores and out for pup cups. I warm up to car rides once we get going! My foster mom has 4 dogs so we don’t take joy rides as much as I need to get used to it. I could live in an apartment without a lot of people or entrance in and out without common hallways. I bark at people I don’t know in hallways.
If you are patient and kind and someone who can help me build a life of good memories, I think we would be a great match. I will melt your heart once you get to know me!
