PUPDATE 3
Frodo or Fro-de-o-do as we call him, continues to look for his forever home. For a 5 month old puppy, he positively has the best personality. He loves to be by his people. He loves to see you even if you just left the room and came back. Always a snuggler but not overly so.
Frodo’s favorite things to do are go on walks, play in the yard, chew sticks and toys and NAP. He finds the best places to nap! Progress is being made in potty training. He is just starting to signal he needs to go out. I have him regulated, meaning, I know when he needs to go out so he is very close to being potty trained.
Frodo gets along well with any dogs he has met. He is not dog reactive on walks. He plays well with my 10 year old Golden (although she is a very limited player) and my 30 pound Chi/terrier mix. He does not participate in the barking contest the neighborhood dogs participate in but will bark to initiate play. Frodo lived with cats in his southern foster and his brother is doing fine in a home with one. He has shown no prey drive for birds or squirrels.
Frodo is a low/medium energy dog. He needs some play time in the backyard or a short walk. He can keep himself entertained with toys but he is still supervised when is free roaming the house. Luckily, he likes to be by you, so he moves with you. Frodo sleeps in his kennel until everyone gets up about 6:30 am. He goes to sleep to lullaby music at night. He crates for 4 hours at a time but will need a potty break and his mid day meal every day. Frodo has not been home alone but does fine with my uncrated dogs home as companions for him. I am amazed every day how he has overcome so many puppy fears and trusts trying new things. He is good with kids and even met a baby, although we had to watch the big paws. He is still a big toddler himself and not sure where his body is in space.
My family adores Frodo and loves how genuinely happy and easygoing he is ALL THE TIME! He is a big smooshy faced sweetheart.
PUPDATE 2
Frodo is such a chill pup! Loves to hang out and snooze anywhere. He is doing great with developing his leash skills. He enjoys walks and is learning not to sniff EVERYTHING. He sleeps in his crate until I get up. He loves everyone and every dog he meets. He has the most easy going personality. Everyone who meets him is charmed by his sweet personality. He will be big but he will make a great second pup. He plays fair and doesn’t need to play for a long time to be happy. He is excellent with kids. He is not a big licker but will snuggle and snuffle kiss. A great family dog!!
PUPDATE 1
Frodo wakes up when we do at 5:30 am. He goes out to go potty. We wait a while because he usually goes several times. He eats at 6 am, noon, and 6 pm. He eats in his crate. He plays with his brother or my dog, naps or chews on his toys throughout the day. He will crate when I leave and likes to let me know he is ready to get out when I get home. As a puppy of his age, Frodo still has occasional accidents in the house but that has been improving each day.
Frodo has been very good meeting new people. He greets them nicely but with enthusiasm and hasn't needed many reminders to not jump up.
Frodo has been wonderful with my 5 year old grandson. When excited, he can get a little mouthy, as most puppies do, but corrects himself with directions.
He is medium energy level. He loves to run around the fenced backyard and lay in the grass and chew on toys. He likes a walk but doesn’t need a walk to get rid of energy as long as he has another dog to play with.
He loves to play with other dogs so he would do better with another playmate or frequent opportunities to be with other dogs. We noted he does play well but likes to take the toys from his brother. He does not take the toys from my older dogs as much.
Frodo sleeps in his crate or chew on toys in his crate when home alone. If I am not in the room he snoozes on the couch or lays on the floor and chews on toys appropriately. I have to watch him so that he does not chew on pillows or my TV remote. He can be a little mischievous.
Frodo was with his litter mates for 4 months so he is very used to other dogs being around. He might struggle as an only dog unless there are ample opportunities to interact with dogs. He is a big snuggler and loves attention from his people. He is a big puppy so it’s safe to say he will be a good size adult dog. He is more laid back and likes to lie in the same room as his person. He would benefit from training in a puppy class.
