Miss Freya found her family on January 7, 2021! She will be called Maeve going forward :)

PUPDATE 2

Freya continues to thrive in her foster home! She just went to her first day of doggy day care and did great. The daycare staff said that she was very sweet and submissive when playing with other dogs. Freya has shown some leash reactivity when she is out for walks and sees other dogs, but is making good progress with clicker training. Freya now knows that when she notices another dog, and quietly observes them rather than barking, a yummy piece of cheese awaits her! While Freya has still not been left alone in her foster home, she has shown signs of improvement when it comes to her separation anxiety. She no longer follows her foster mom around the apartment wherever she goes, and is content being in a different room. She has even stopped barking and whining when the bathroom door is closed. Freya continues to be the sweetest and most lovable pup!

PUDPATE 1

Freya is such a love bug and has been an absolutely pleasure to foster! While Freya is still getting comfortable with her crate, she sleeps on her dog bed next to her foster mom's bed. She does great sleeping through the night, and patiently waits until her foster mom wakes up to go outside for a walk. When Freya gets back inside, she eats her breakfast, plays with her toys for a little bit and then settles in for a nap. Freya goes back outside for a potty and exercise break around 12pm, and then for a longer walk after eating her dinner at 4:30pm. Freya normally snuggles on the couch in the evenings, and goes to bed around 10pm.

She does great with all the people she meets when out for walks or on outings. Freya is quick to run up to new faces and ask for pets and belly rubs. She has been a little bit less comfortable when a new face comes into the house. But if the new person offers her some kibble and pets, she quickly becomes their best friend. Freya generally seems to do best with slow-introductions but has always warmed up to new faces!

Freya has not had any exposure to children while in foster care.

Freya is a high energy pup who loves to run! She goes for at least two 30-45 minute walks a day with an 'exercise' break mid-day. Depending on the day, her exercise break may include a play date with another Fetch pup, or a trip to the park on her retractable leash where she loves to chase after her tennis ball. As long as Freya has had her exercise for the day, she is content napping or playing independently with her toys for the rest of the day.

At first, Freya can be unsure of other dogs she meets on walks. However, after a bark or two, and a few smells she has always made friends with other dogs. Freya does seem to get jealous when her humans pay attention to another dog (or cat), so she may do best as the only dog in her forever home.

She has been living with one cat in her foster home. Most of the time Freya has been separated from the cat with a baby gate as the cat is scared of dogs. However, when she has been exposed directly to the cat, she tends to show little interest. She is always most interested in getting love and attention from her humans.

As the pandemic has allowed her foster mom to work from home, Freya has not been left alone yet. She does seem to show some signs of separation anxiety as she barks and whimpers when her humans go into another room. However, in the short week that she's been in foster care, she has made improvements! With some trust building and training, I know she could do well when left by herself.

Freya is an A+ cuddler and quarantine buddy! She absolutely loves snuggling on the couch with her humans and is prone to falling asleep on any lap that will allow it. Any family would be lucky to have this smart, sweet girl as their own!
