My name is Floki and I am a small sturdy happy guy. One of my best traits is I am super friendly. I haven't met a person or dog that I didn't consider a good friend. My people don't have any cats or small kids, but I did meet a 2 year old girl and was sweet to her. When my people come home I get the wiggles and squeaks-its just so wonderful to be with people. I am allowed on the couch and I like to snuggle for brief periods, but then I often get down and spend some time alone. Every dog my people let me interact with I have enjoyed but sometimes I have to walk by without a visit. I often verbalize my desire to meet the dog but only briefly and then I continue my walk.
I like chasing a ball or a stuffed toy and reliably bring them back to my people for another chase. Its quite enjoyable and a great way to get exercise without even stepping outdoors. I do know how to chew through a leash or tie out quickly so be careful there since I won't know how to find my way back home. I picked up one of my people's socks once but promptly put it down. I haven't chewed or destroyed anything that belongs to the people.
I have a beautiful silky black coat with one small star of white on my chest. I shed a little, but will need some occasional extra grooming. My people trimmed my ears and are talking about trimming my feet a bit. I might have some cocker spaniel in me which would explain my need for a trim. I have some itchy dry patches of skin that will need some TLC to resolve. Boy do I love it when my people give me a good rub down. It feels so good.
I stay in a crate with very few complaints. I only go in when my people leave the house or for a couple hours when they are home so I can learn to be quiet and content even when people are around. I sleep in a smaller crate in my people's bedroom and am perfectly content and quiet overnight.
Some areas of improvement are that I like to whine and fuss when dogs walk by the house or pass me on a walk and don't stop to visit. I settle quickly after they pass, but my people would prefer I just watch quietly. I have a need to mark new territory. I have marked 4 times in my peoples' home. I haven't marked in the house since the first few days I was here. I wear a belly band to give my people peace of mind and sometimes they take it off because they think I am doing better. I am going to be neutered next week so hoping that takes this urge away. I do understand that I need to go outside to do my business and I go to the front door when its time.
In terms of my educational status, my parents say I don't know my name or basic commands. They also say, I am so sweet and fun that it doesn't bother them. But I could stand to learn a few basic commands. Right now my parents are working on sit, wait at the door, and learning my name. So if you don't like the name Floki, I am still open to new options.
I am a love bug and delightfully cute. If you are looking for a happy, sweet, little buddy, I am your guy.
